The Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer sets quality standards and is responsible for creating customer satisfaction by ensuring that Coinstar software performs as specified. This position delivers outstanding results in the area of Quality Assurance (QA) through the design, creation, and execution of complex test cases in collaboration with business stakeholders and various members of the Technology organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute end-to-end test strategies against server-based systems that provide services to Coinstar Kiosks running embedded systems, with minimal direction required.
  • Collaborate with project teams to decompose requirements and ensure total coverage, translating specifications into test design, high-level plan, and test cases, with traceability throughout.
  • Participate in and potentially drive project reviews and daily stand-ups, sharing status on milestones and defects, as well as documenting in test tools and any other required reporting.
  • Responsible for the full lifecycle of the test phase of a project, from kick-off to production readiness, including estimation and execution of regression, functional, and automated testing.
  • Replicate and understand production issues in test environments to help inform solutions.
  • Motivate, coach, and mentor team members on best practices and adherence to policy, including acting as a point of escalation for more junior members.
  • Contribute to content and continuous improvement of QA metrics.
  • Remain current with emerging technologies, influencing the future Coinstar landscape.
  • Role model Coinstar Competencies, holding self and others accountable.

Education & Experience

  • High school degree required; college degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of software Quality Assurance engineering.
    • 4+ years testing software as a service systems.
    • 4+ years testing embedded systems.
  • Testing on various platforms: websites, client-server applications, and backend web services.
  • Agile project management tools like Jira and Rally.
  • Working with test harnesses, test automation tools, and industry standard CI/CD tools.
  • Testing in cloud-based solutions like AWS and Azure.
  • Testing embedded systems or consumer electronic devices a big plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Familiarity with a major programming language. C# preferred, C++, Java, Python, Ruby are a plus.
  • Familiarity with Bitbucket, Visual Studio, Team City, TFS, Test Manager are a plus.
  • Familiarity with testing tools such as TestComplete, TestStudio, RationalRobot are a plus.
  • Familiarity with infrastructures such as Selenium Webdriver, TestNG, Karate, Cucumber are a plus.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, troubleshooting complex configuration issues.
  • High degree of comfort working with fluid requirements and constraints.

  • This position requires minimal to no travel.
