This is an exciting opportunity in Galesburg, MI for a Product Systems Design Engineering Product Specialist.
This role is primarily focused on Value Analysis/Value Engineering as a member of the Eaton Cummins Joint Venture VAVE team.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:
• Responsible for evaluating product bill of materials, component designs and manufacturing processes in search of opportunities to improve functionality and ease of manufacturing while reducing complexity and overall product cost.
• Collaborate with Product Engineering team to brainstorm alternatives to improve the value of products to our customers. May conduct workshops to identify opportunities and alternatives
• Lead cross functional team through Design Specification Feasibility Review for targeted VAVE components confirming feasibility of design, drawings and specifications to ensure they meet the functional, reliability, warranty, cost, manufacturing and assembly expectations of the supplier and product engineering teams
• Support “should cost” analysis based on industry practices and competitive intelligence
• Apply project management skills to usher product changes or re-sourcing efforts through design, development, testing and validation, supply chain ramp and production launch
• Partner closely with internal partners in Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Test Lab and Finance to build business case, identify suppliers, assess supplier capabilities, test solutions and monitor results of improvements

To be successful in this role you will need the following:
• College, university, or equivalent Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required.
• 3-5+ years of relevant work experience required
• Experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and strong understanding of GD&T principles required
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in part design and may include: analysis of forgings, stampings, castings and polymers

Compensation and Benefits
