DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are looking for a talented DS&C Electronic Controls – Technical Specialist to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Corporate Business Segment in Columbus, IN/ home office. (Hybrid)

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
• This product focused position tailors’ electronic systems for Cummins products. People in these positions will configure (tune), integrate, test, and release software, electronic control units, tools, sensors, actuators, and harnesses into an electronic system that controls the operation of Cummins’ products in a variety of customer applications.
Investigates electronic application and systems problems, understands causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, owns problem resolution and documents results.
• Applies and improves electronic application and systems development processes and tools. Processes include system specification, modelling and simulation, calibration, Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), and troubleshooting. Tools include Simulink, calibration tools, and PTC Integrity.
• Obtains input and negotiates with product and software development teams and delivers control system designs, verified and calibrated software features and builds to product teams.
• Makes decisions in the areas of electronic systems design, requirements, calibration, and test that impact the quality and performance of calibrated subsystems and feature classes of electronic subsystems. Responsible for review of less-experienced developers/testers’ work to ensure robust, reusable, and efficient design.
• Provides support and guidance to influence technical direction within a project team and continues to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.
Operates as a recognized specialist in a discipline or product area within the immediate team.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
• College, university, or equivalent Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required
• Develop controls components software algorithms using a prescribed design process from concept to fully test and document deliverables. Component algorithms development work includes controls as well as on-board diagnostic. Component software development process based on standard Autosar software development and Cummins internal software development.
• Collecting and determining the system functional and performance requirements from various stakeholders and document requirements.
• Develop and select algorithm concepts, design and evaluate the algorithm using Matlab Simulink, generate code using real-time workshop, integrate newly generated code with other components to create executable, test updated software on engine control module or in simulation using Model in Loop (MIL), Software in loop (SIL) using Matlab test manager.
• Create technical presentations for cross-functional forums to describe new algorithm concepts or technical issues. Lead or troubleshoot cross-functional controls software issues and provide solutions to solve the issues.
• This position is specifically working on the embedded software controls. This position will not be specifying electronic hardware or circuits.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
