Full-Time Product Engineer

Job Description

PURPOSE
The Product Engineer will work cross functionally to contribute to S’well’s product roadmap by helping to build and scale best-in-class sustainable products. The ideal candidate will support the mechanical product development, engineering and qualification of new products and mechanisms of medium-to-high complexity.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Hands-on involvement in all facets of engineering and development of mechanical products and mechanisms of medium-to-high complexity
  • Engineering development of mechanical products such as stainless-steel insulated containers, plastic injection molded closures and components, silicone and other elastomeric sealing components, general packaging, etc.
  • Design and Engineer Products and create 2-D Engineering Drawings using CAD Systems:  SolidWorks experience preferred
  • Communicate all product design, engineering, performance, testing, and materials information with international manufacturers
  • Work with cross functional stakeholders to understand, communicate and deliver on product timelines
  • Create Functional Product Specifications, Engineering Drawings and Test Methods
  • Build prototypes using 3-D Printers and external prototyping suppliers
  • Support in consumer product testing and functional product testing

WHO YOU ARE

  • 2+ years of similar design experience in mechanical product engineering or development, preferably in CPG or retail industry
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field
  • Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Ability to engineer medium-to-high complexity assemblies, mechanisms and plastic or stainless steel part configurations
  • Keen eye for detail and can evaluate designs to ensure proper design, manufacturing and molding standards are followed
  • Innovative thinker, can provide solutions for new product ideas
  • Familiar with various manufacturing processes and mold types (e.g., steel forming, injection molding, assembly methods, decoration methods, etc)
  • Must be able to communicate product designs utilizing 3-D CAD software, sketches and verbal direction
  • Knowledge of test methods and procedures to ensure that products meet reliability and safety requirements
  • Excellent presentation skills. Comfortable working with internal and external partners to clearly communicate technical and non-technical information via verbal presentations and in writing
  • Can handle multiple projects with competing deadlines in a start-up environment
  • Independent thinker and can make sound decisions with minimal direction
  • The position will require travel to our NYC product site
