Working at the intersection of health care programs and systems, digital health technology, and data, the mission of the Digital Health & Data Analytics Unit is to enable the Foundation to utilize digital technology in health service delivery and disease surveillance by efficiently and effectively operationalizing standard and proven approaches to capturing, storing, and learning from data.
The Director of DHDA will work as an integral member of the SI&E department management team, under the leadership of the Senor Director, SI&E. This role will provide overall leadership in the development and implementation of a comprehensive digital health strategy across EGPAF both at global and the country teams. This is a great opportunity for a strategic leader who is passionate to establish, refine, and adapt digital health technology platforms in sub-Saharan African countries.
No two days are alike at EGPAF, but what can you expect in this role?
Drive the Foundation’s Strategy in the use of Digital Health Technologies
- Lead the development and implementation of a Foundation wide digital health strategy that will optimize decision-making, health service delivery, and technical assistance
- Effectively communicate the “business case” of digital health solutions to diverse audiences, both written and verbally
- Communicate and facilitate collaboration with a wide range of internal stakeholders, including executive-level leaders, unit heads, program implementers, and analysts, including both US-based and Africa- based staff, including individuals without a technology background
Management of the Global Digital Health and Data Analytics Unit
- Continuously ensure that the Digital Health and Data Analytics Unit’s scope of work and capacity is aligned with the overall vision for digital health within EGPAF
- Provide strategic vision, management, mentorship, and prioritization support to Digital Health & Data Analytics unit staffs
- Fully understand the client care service delivery, donor reporting and data use needs within the global and country level projects, and accordingly provide technical leadership in designing, development, deliverables, and setting timelines for the necessary digital health related solutions
Project Leadership
- Explore, mobilize and deploy digital health technology expertise from within and outside of the Foundation (including digital health partner organizations) to support various global and country level projects, whenever required
- Oversee that all the Foundation projects are adhering to digital health and data governance standards, as per EGPAF’s Digital Health Strategy
- Scope potential future projects, ensure strong delivery of current projects, and effectively manage client expectations
- Anticipate potential challenges to effective program implementation in international and low-resource settings, such as considering multi-language options, offline data capture, and low-bandwidth options at the program design stage
- Stay up-to-date on trends in the digital health landscape, such as new features from digital health partners, donor digital priorities, technological advancements, and best practices in digital health project implementation
- Facilitate internal and external visibility of digital health success stories to enable new funding opportunities
- Support new business development proposals with a digital health and/or data analytics component
To be successful, you will have…
- 12 years of relevant experience, including managing diverse team of information technologists
- Skills in Project and people management, business strategy, data analysis
- Knowledge and experience with data management and informatics systems
- Ability to communicate and advocate for digital health and data analytics effectively across a variety of stakeholders, including individuals who are not familiar with technology and data
- Familiarity with large-scale systems strategy and development, especially collecting and aggregating data from various systems in a central location for reporting and analysis, preferably in Sub-Saharan Africa
Bonus points if you have…
- A background in information technology
- Experience working in settings with infrastructure constraints, such as low-bandwidth
- Experience managing or liaising with external digital health partners, supporting business development proposals (such as providing technical write ups), and experience in data science, modeling and analytics including big data, data mining, or machine learning
- Nonprofit/NGO, international development, or public health experience
- Ability to communicate in French and/or Portuguese
