Full-Time Director of Research and Evaluation

This role will provide strategic oversight of The Phoenix’s internal and external research agenda, initiate partnerships with independent researchers, collaborate with the operations team to ensure data and metrics align with evaluation requirements, build and supervise a research team, and execute data analysis as needed. The ideal candidate will have existing connections within the field of recovery research and familiarity with SPSS or a like statistical process. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In collaboration with the Deputy Executive Director and the Operations Team, develop and execute a comprehensive research and evaluation agenda
  • Initiate partnerships with independent researchers by identifying and communicating areas of mutual benefit
  • Implement a long-term strategy for establishing a body of independent research on The Phoenix’s recovery model
  • Foster organizational success through execution and timely delivery of evaluation metrics for operations improvements and donor cultivation
  • Identify key research questions based on evaluation results
  • Oversee research staff as needed
  • Identify, design, and supervise research projects
  • Prospect and apply for research grants
  • Work in office approximately 50% of the time

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-7 years’ experience in similar roles, with an emphasis on partnering with external researchers and driving innovative research agendas
  • Demonstrated success promoting research agendas and creating buy-in with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent research and evaluation skills, particularly under conditions of rapid scaling
  • Supervision experience and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Strategic mindset, as well as a willingness to pivot quickly
  • Strong writing skills and relevant publication credits
  • Familiarity with SPSS or a like statistical process
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, humility, and integrity

PREFERENCES

  • Lived experience as a peer in recovery
  • Familiarity with addiction recovery-related research
  • Networking connections within the recovery research community
  • Experience speaking at research conferences
  • MPH or PhD degree
