Full-Time Program Manager

The Phoenix is looking to scale our national impact and has a goal of reaching over one million people by 2025. As our Houston Program Manager, you’ll contribute to this growth by overseeing our new location in Houston.

This role will recruit and activate volunteer instructors, ensure quality programming, foster community relations, and participate in fundraising efforts. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • With support from regional and national staff, work to build a robust sober active community in Houston and surrounding communities
  • Build a strong volunteer program, including recruiting, training, supporting, and retaining a solid base of volunteers who will lead the majority of Phoenix events
  • Support virtual programs as needed
  • Supervise local staff
  • Build partnerships with organizations and groups to improve access to recovery support and treatment for those living in the Houston area
  • Oversee general daily administrative needs and tasks of the Houston chapter and monitor program, facility, and equipment standards
  • Facilitate events weekly (i.e. fitness, boxing, socials, etc.) in a safe, supportive and nurturing environment
  • Participate in fundraising efforts, including private donations, grants, peer-to-peer fundraising, corporate sponsorships, and capital campaigns
  • Assist with the online presence of the chapter
  • Complete other duties as assigned
  • Work evening and weekend hours as needed

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of relevant work or volunteer experience (donor and partnership management, volunteer management, program management, leadership, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people from all walks of life
  • Program management and supervisory experience
  • Community relation skills and willingness to initiate introductions with potential partners
  • Experience coaching, instructing, or leading events or classes such as socials, runs, mountain bike rides, CrossFit, or yoga
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, humility, and integrity
  • Organizational skills, professionalism, and the ability to quickly adapt to change
  • Proficiency with office equipment and computer software, including word processing, spreadsheet applications, and email

 

PREFERENCES

  • Lived experience as a peer in recovery
  • Experience with budgets
  • Experience assisting individuals reentering from the criminal justice system who have substance use disorders
  • Certifications in relevant athletic disciplines (CF-L1, L2, or L3; NASM, NSCA, ACSM, or ACE Personal Trainer; AMGA-CWI, SPI, or Rock Guide; IMBA-L1; YT-200, etc.)
  • Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness First Aid certification
  • Fluency in two or more languages
  • Bachelor’s degree
