Full-Time Safety and Environmental Compliance Lead

Job Description

We are looking for a talented Safety and Environmental Compliance lead to join our team specializing in Hydrogen Fuel Cells for our #NewPower Business Unit in Mississauga, Ontario.

 

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

 

 

This individual will lead the safety, standards, certifications and regulations function of the group. They will become the lead in safety, certifications, regulations and standards globally, ensuring fuel cell engines conform to industry standards.

 

In particular, the role will be responsible for managing standards / compliance, safety engineering technical feedback / assessment for product development, industry technical standards and committee representation and customer inquiries regarding use and product safety.  This role is also the owner of any safety documentation and training of the group’s product.

 

Develop and lead execution of requirements, protocols, and compliance of products during the product lifecycle, and creating and reviewing customer response documents.

 

Provide technical assistance, product safety, certification, and regulations input to product development.

 

Assist customers with issues relating to the use products and safety. Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements in the facility’s geographic location.

 

Lead the functional safety (FS) for the group through the application of safety culture and safety-related processes.

 

Monitor and follow-up the execution of functional safety activities. Close cooperation and support to project teams in the implementation of safety-related work products.

 

Review of project documentation to ensure compliance with the requirements of applicable functional safety and quality standards.

 

Collaboration with other departments to ensure functional safety is achieved during all phases of the product safety lifecycle.

 

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or related technical or scientific field required.

 

Strong knowledge of Environmental Regulatory Compliance – including regulatory requirements imposed on industry by local, state, provincial, national, and international organizations including air emissions, waste water discharges, natural resource consumption, waste generation, spill prevention and reporting
