Job Description
We are looking for a talented Senior Applications Engineer – Technical Advisor specializing in Engineering to support Power Generation products for the Power System Business Unit of Cummins Inc. This position is associated with Engineering teams in Columbus, IN and Shoreview, MN. Relocation to one of these areas is preferred but there is flexibility in both the location and timing of any relocation.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
• Apply your engineering expertise in the areas of product selection, design and integration that will optimize Genset performance.
• Utilize your experience to develop customer technical specifications and represent the customer during new product development programs, design reviews and product change request processes
• Ensure installation quality by validating product performance and ensuring installations meet Cummins and Customer requirements
• Help with the development and implementation of Sales Engineering tools to size and select Generators for our Customer. Assist the technical sales channel with the use of these tools
• Investigate system installation and commissioning issues, recommend appropriate action and owning issue resolution within the support team
• Apply your expertise in the support of Quality or other In-service issues and see them through to resolution.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
• An undergraduate degree in Engineering with a Masters degree preferred
• Over 10 years power generation industry experience, including customer-facing experience
• A desire to build strong relationships and deliver customer–centric solutions with Customers, our Distribution Channel, and internal Stakeholders.
• A technical expert with global experience in the installation, commissioning, service, and maintenance of Power Gen systems and related products
• Power Gen experience in adjacent markets such as Marine Gensets
• Fluent English language skills are essential. Additional language(s) are desirable
• Minimal travel is expected, but flexible to travel up 10 – 20% when safe to do so
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
