The Department of Finance and Insurance in the Miller College of Business at Ball State University is seeking an entrepreneurial professional to lead the Department. The department chair reports to the Bryan Dean of the Miller College and is responsible for managing the academic, operational, personnel, budgetary, and student activities within the Department. The ideal candidate will be a tenurable scholar and experienced administrator capable of advocating for the Department and effectively mentoring junior faculty. This individual will exhibit innovativeness in identifying opportunities, and expanding relationships that will position our Department as a source of professional expertise, on campus and externally with our alumni, businesses, and community stakeholders. This position offers an opportunity to work with energetic and collegial faculty and staff, expand on the utilization of the Bloomberg Professional Service (BPS) and the Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS), and align with current university and college strategic priorities, including growing the graduate program and developing executive education programs.

Minimum Qualifications: PhD with a major in Finance or related discipline or DBA from an AACSB accredited program. Minimum of five years of tenure-line faculty service and two years of administrative experience which could include, but is not limited to, course scheduling, faculty recruiting and mentoring, preparation of promotion and tenure documents, management of a department advisory board, service on college level committees, management of a departmental budget, curriculum management and faculty performance assessment.

The Department Chair is a fiscal year appointment and we prefer a start date of July 1, 2022. Salary range is $206,000 to $219,700 depending on rank and experience. Indicated salary includes a salary supplement for the chair position. We prefer that applicants would meet expectations for tenure and rank of full Professor, but are willing to consider senior Associate Professors.
