Job Description
We Help is a long-standing program offering emergency food and financial assistance, personal hygiene items, and resources to the community. The St. Petersburg Free Clinic is currently seeking an experienced leader to oversee and continue to grow the We Help Program. The We Help Director, reporting directly to the COO, will be responsible for program outcomes and deliverables, overseeing staff, and working as part of a team in continuing the mission of the St. Petersburg Free Clinic.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Leads and schedules We Help staff, and oversees scheduling of volunteers, to ensure adequate coverage for program needs.
- Conducts annual reviews of all direct reports.
Position Responsibilities
- Lead staff, logistics, systems, and processes related to the successful day-to-day execution of We Help services, including drive-through food pantry, Client Choice food pantry, Pak-A-Sack & Hearty Homes, client services, volunteer involvement, and community partnerships.
- Understand best practices for program delivery and recommend long-term strategies to support increased program access, optimum client experience, and advancement of health equity; lead implementation of approved strategies
- Set program goals and establish short-term strategies for meeting outcomes, communicating goals and expectations to both employees and the executive team; make recommendations for improving the client experience
- Identify and build new relationships with community partners to expand the program, and its visibility, in the community; ensure effective internal communication about partner relationships
- Work closely with Food Bank Director to maintain and enhance relationships with current food donors, and support efforts to identify, and establish relationships with, new food donors
- Ensure compliance with all required regulations regarding food and non-food safety and storage; facilities (e.g., elevator, loading dock); sanitation codes; USDA requirements; and other relevant regulations.
- Recommend policies and procedures related to food, staff, and volunteer safety.
- Oversee record keeping of client statistics, services rendered, food donations, and other services performed.
- Utilize client database system to track all services provided, pull and analyze reports on a monthly basis, and anticipate ongoing and future needs of clients. Customize program, when possible, to best serve program needs.
- Ensure grants and contracts compliance through budget and program monitoring, management toward outcomes, and regular reporting.
- In partnership with Volunteer Services Director, recruit new volunteers, support volunteer trainings, and ensure volunteer scheduling support program needs. Assist with volunteer survey and act on results.
- Recommend annual program budget and participate in annual budget-setting process. Monitor program expenditures, allocation of funds, and maintain all program expenditures within budget.
- Support Development Staff in securing donations, grants, or other funding; support and participate in food and other drives, as relevant.
- Participate in social service and hunger related community groups, such a social service coalitions, forums, committees, community information fairs, or collective impact initiatives. Be an effective collaborator in local hunger efforts including Tampa Bay Network to End Hunger and JWB Childhood Hunger Initiatives; initiate, or be part of initiation of new programs as appropriate.
- Attend and participate in agency events.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in human services or related field; Master’s degree preferred or combination of education and experience
- 5 years of program leadership and/or supervisory experience
Physical Requirement:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
