Full-Time Technical Lead (C2IMERA)

Job Description

We are looking for a Tech Lead. Kessel Run’s Command and Control Incident Management Emergency Response Application (C2IMERA) product is part of a WingC2 product line that brings software to inform and execute the future air tasking order during agile combat employment.

 

A Tech Lead works as part of a product development team, which consists of a Product Lead, Design Lead, Tech Lead, and software developers, to provide technical perspectives and advocacy around the development, communication, and execution of the product.

 

The Tech Lead is responsible for guiding the contracted development team in their execution of the project. Ensuring that the correct technical and architectural decisions are being made and the product development aligns with the technical vision and strategy of the portfolio. You will facilitate information sharing between leadership and product teams and work with portfolio leadership to solve high-level problems.

 

The goal is to provide direction to the contractor as they execute the product strategy while also balancing code health. We look to the Tech lead to provide guidance to product teams to direct technical advice, and empower wherever possible. They advocate for team engineering staff concerns with portfolio and WingC2 leadership.

 

In order to be effective in these responsibilities and goals, a Tech Lead should have practical Agile and Lean software development experience as well as experience overseeing a contracted / outsourced development team. They should also have experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) and the development of cloud native applications.

 

Ideally, this individual has experience in facilitation and communication, and opts for simplicity. They should value and be able to articulate the importance of focusing on outcomes over outputs, from strategy to implementation.

What you will do

 

  • You will have full technical responsibility for assigned projects; will operate as a team member who oversees and directs technical activities for the product
  • You will work on varied, complex systems and subsystems associated with research, innovation, or reengineering assignments and demonstrate competence and creativity in developing new concepts and possible new uses of hardware/software
  • You will promote communication between Portfolio Leadership and Product Teams
  • You will facilitate coordination between Engineering and Product at the team level to collectively problem solve
  • You will pair with engineers to identify solutions to technical challenges
  • You will collaborate with the Portfolio Leadership team on how best to achieve WingC2 OKRs and portfolio goals
  • You will collaborate with Portfolio leadership to better understand our strengths and weaknesses as an organization
  • You will tackle cross-cutting engineering concerns; fostering an environment for engineers across the organization to collaborate on solutions
  • You will find opportunities for automation wherever possible and push teams to invest
  • You will advocate for development and implementation of modern, improved technical approaches; fostering a continuous improvement mindset with our engineering staff
  • You will be overseeing the modernization / microservice re-architecture of a current monolithic application.

Who you are

  • Prefered, but not required.  Candidate will have bachelor’s or advanced degree in engineering, systems engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics
  • You have an overall strong foundation in technical best practices and processes
  • You have a good foundation on our engineering practices: Test Driven Development (TDD), automated testing, Paired Programming, CI/CD
  • You have strong technical and/or architectural experiences
  • You have experience  with Spring, SpringBoot, React, and API design
  • You have experience in transformation of legacy systems to cloud enabled to subsequently cloud native
  • You have experience working with Amazon Web Services
  • You have good written and oral communication skills
  • You have experience working with a Prime Contractor and overseeing delivery of the system/features by the Prime
  • You are patient and persistent in getting work done
  • You have a strong desire to grow and mentors others
  • You can operate in ambiguity, but understand that others don’t
  • You are able to reflect on and empathize with others perspectives
  • You have demonstrated leadership abilities in current or previous jobs
  • You are a continuous learner
  • You have at least 5 years of experience applying the listed skill sets
  • You are a U.S. citizen and are eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (see eligibility requirements here)

This is a Federal civilian service position within the United States Air Force. We are hiring at the equivalent of a GS-13 up to GS-14 level for this position. This means you can expect a base salary of $79,468 to $122,077 multiplied by your locality rate, based on your experience. You can find your locality definition here and see the pay tables for the GS scale here. Our headquarters is located in Boston, MA; for a Boston-based employee, this would translate to a range from $102,601 to $157,614
