The Position

Technical support engineers apply their technical knowledge to solve a variety of technological challenges. They create or implement new technologies and drive the development of networking solutions and software programs. We are looking for positive, driven candidates who work well in a team environment, with ability to pick up new skills and technologies and rapidly apply them to solve problems.

What You Will Do

  • Work as part of a multi-level technical support team.
  • Understand modern software development methodologies and tooling (continuous integration, version control, modern build systems and dependency management)
  • Assess user issues, reproduce problems with limited information, and see patterns in the types of issues that arise.
  • Recommend systemic improvements based on the volume and urgency of technical issues.
  • Write robust automation for provisioning, configuration, deployment, operation of third party systems/applications.
  • Understand the user experience and develop workflows for the fulfillment of these experiences (i.e. requesting access to software, requesting new software, requesting accounts, lost passwords).

Who You Are

  • You have a strong customer service mindset and a drive to help people get back to work quickly.
  • You have experience with Linux server administration.
  • You have experience with Microsoft Active Directory, ADFS, SAML/SSO.
  • You have hands on experience with Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • You have experience with terraform, ansible, chef, puppet, cloud formation, or similar.
  • You have experience with developing service desk workflows (Gitlab Service Desk, ServiceNow).
  • You are a U.S. citizen and are eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (see eligibility requirements here)

This is a Federal civilian service position within the United States Air Force. We are hiring at the equivalent of a GS-12 up to GS-13 level for this position. This means you can expect a base salary of $66,829 to $103,309 multiplied by your locality rate, based on your experience. You can find your locality definition here and see the pay tables for the GS scale here. Our headquarters is located in Boston, MA; for a Boston-based employee, this would translate to a range from $86,283 to $133,382.
