The M&S Portfolio Tech Lead position falls under the OPSC2 Product Line (PL) at Kessel Run.  The OPSC2 PL builds a number of software products to support and modernize the AOC WS, provided to the C/JFACC,  in order to provide the joint community a unified presentation of fighting forces to include air and missile defense, targeting, and ISR.

 

As the M&S Portfolio Tech Lead for the M&S Portfolio, you will be responsible for supporting portfolio leadership in critical decision making at the tactical and strategic level from a technical perspective.  You will act as the leadership level technical advocate, maintaining operational awareness of the product teams within the M&S portfolio, and supporting work ongoing within those teams.  You will work with the product teams to solve portfolio level problems, facilitate coordination between working groups, and drive successful implementation of the portfolio’s technical strategy.

What you will do

  • You will promote communication between engineering leadership and product teams to collectively problem solve
  • You will pair with engineers on product teams to remove technical blockers and resolve technical challenges
  • You will collaborate with portfolio leadership on how best to achieve product line and portfolio goals
  • You will architect and develop solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact
  • You will define engineering standards and best practices
  • You will advocate for development and implementation of modern, improved technical approaches; fostering a continuous improvement mindset with our engineering staff

 

Who you are

  • You have an overall strong technical foundation in software development best practices and processes
  • You have 2-5 years of Software Development experience with demonstrable experience leading teams
  • You have strong technical and/or architectural experiences
  • You have built and scaled successful software products
  • You are highly experienced with both frontend and backend development
  • You are proficient writing Java, Koltin, Javascript, or similar languages
  • You have strong technical skills with frameworks like Spring, SpringBoot, and React
  • You have extensive experience with TDD, continuous delivery, and automated testing
  • You have good written and oral communication skills
  • You are capable of simplifying technical information into a more readily understandable and consumable format
  • You have a strong desire to grow and mentors others
  • You are able to reflect on and empathize with others perspectives
  • You have demonstrated leadership abilities in current or previous jobs
  • You are a continuous learner
  • You are a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (see eligibility requirements here)
  • Bonus: You have working knowledge and experience within the Modeling & Simulation community
  • Bonus: You have working knowledge and experience with AFSIM (Advanced Framework for Simulation Integration and Modeling)
  • Bonus: You have experience with Python, C#, and/or .NET Core
  • Bonus: You have experience with event driven architecture and event sourcing
  • Bonus: You have experience establishing or maintaining organizational data standards,  database management, data pipelines, or data science models

 

We hire at the GS-13/14 level equivalent. This means you can expect a salary of $102,601 to $157,614 (depending on experience) for a Boston-based position (pay will be adjusted by location), as well as paid time off, health, and retirement benefits. There are advancement opportunities to promote to senior levels after hiring.
