What You Will Do
- Own and set the engineering strategy and delivery of the United States Air Force’s global application platform for distributed command and control
- Lead a team of engineering managers and provide engineering leadership within a large engineering organization
- Set performance goals for team members while providing coaching and professional development
- Drive a high-performance culture within your team the moves quickly and learns continuously
- Collaborate with a balanced team of product and design directors; representing the engineering perspective to the product roadmap
Who You Are
- Professional experience in software engineering with a demonstrated track record of leading engineering organizations of 100+ engineers
- Ability to set and drive technical strategy across a diverse background of infrastructure and software engineers
- Track record of leading teams to execute more effectively and deliver products on time
- Ability to inspire and motivate all stakeholders to work together as a highly effective team
- Outstanding influencing and communication skills, particularly with product owners and cross-organization collaborators.
- You have demonstrated experience quickly ramping up in a new and highly complex product domain like military command and control (or prior experience in this domain)
- You are a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (see eligibility requirements here)
This is a Federal civilian service position within the United States Air Force. We are hiring at the equivalent of a GS-14 up to GS-15 level for this position. This means you can expect a base salary of $93,907 to $143,598 multiplied by your locality rate, based on your experience. You can find your locality definition here and see the pay tables for the GS scale here. Our headquarters is located in Boston, MA; for a Boston-based employee, this would translate to a range from $121,243 to $172,500
