About the Role
As our first full-time designer you’ll have a tremendous impact on our products. You’ll become a subject matter expert for all things impacting our users, acting as their champion and advocating for them in each meeting you attend. Our Product Designer will play a key role in leading our user centered innovation. You will be a part of our Product team, collaborating with product and engineering to deliver a seamless experience for our users. You will support user research, sketch UX wireframes, build clickable prototypes, and create high resolution visual designs.
In addition to exceptional design skills, this position requires deep customer empathy and loads of curiosity. You are a creative problem solver who knows what questions to ask in order to identify the right problems to solve.
About the Products
The EARS research product is the first product built on the Ksana Health Mobile Sensing Platform. This platform represents the core competency of the company – the ability to pull continuous, passively obtained sensor data from mobile phones and turn that raw data into objective metrics related to known behavioral health indicators. For researchers, the shift from subjective self-reporting to objective observed data provides much more reliable indicators.
Ksana Health is also in the advanced stages of developing a digital mental health care platform – Vira. The Vira Health Care Solution is a digitally enhanced mental health care system consisting of user/patient smartphone applications and associated health care practitioner portals. The scalability of these tools is enhanced by the fact that no special equipment is required outside the consumer devices people already own (i.e., their personal smartphone).
The unique aspect of the underlying Ksana Health platform is that it utilizes Ksana Health Mobile Sensing Platform to measure multiple mental health relevant behavior patterns including activity, mobility, sleep, mood, social engagement, and cognition. The Vira Practitioner Dashboard integrates mobile sensing, self-report assessment, and just-in-time nudges and notifications into the clinician’s workflow. Patients using the Vira smartphone application can give permission to share their data with, and receive communications from a care provider.

What You Will Do
- Work with team members in the execution and delivery of Ksana Health’s products and services, using a user-focused, iterative design process.
- Advocate for the prioritization of human-centered design changes driven by user research.
- Generate ideas and prototypes quickly, collaborating early and often with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, Marketing, and other stakeholders.
- Support frequent usability tests of interactive prototypes and make design changes based on learnings.
- Deliver design collateral through various stages of the design process by developing wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards, mockups, and/or high-fidelity prototypes.
- Balance long-term design direction with short-term business goals.
- Work with Engineering to review product changes before they are released and ensure we deploy the intended user experience.
- Develop and maintain the design system, ensuring a consistently intuitive user experience and an efficient development process for engineers.
- Present design concepts to all levels of the organization, tailoring the message to the audience so an appropriate level of understanding is conveyed.
- Actively take part in Ksana Health’s product community, seeking out opportunities for learning and personal development.
- Create the product design role from the ground up, helping to shape our overall process.
About You
- 4 years of demonstrated UX and UI digital design work.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Graphic Design, Computer Science, or related field.
- Strong portfolio showcasing design solutions.
- Fluency in design and prototyping techniques, preferably using Figma.
- Comprehensive understanding of the capabilities and limitations of HTML and CSS, and mobile application platforms.
- Experience with health behavior change techniques as they apply to software design and development.
- Experience creating and managing style guides and digital asset libraries.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in roadmap planning for Design and partnering with Product to ensure user needs are met.
- Experience working in Agile software-development process.
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills
