The Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology (CJC) of Ball State University invites applicants to fill a position at the assistant professor level (tenure-track) for Fall 2022. The Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology currently has ten tenure-track faculty members and three full-time instructors.

The department offers a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and a graduate concentration in Public Administration. The undergraduate program currently has approximately 550 enrolled students. Housed in the College of Sciences and Humanities the CJC Department is located on the main campus in Muncie, Indiana.

 

Instruct a range of courses related to Criminology and Criminal Justice. Qualified candidates must demonstrate a specialization in the area of Race and Gender in criminal justice/criminology. Standard teaching load is 3/3, which may include online courses. Continuous productive scholarly activity is expected, as well as service involving engagement with the department, college, university, profession and, as appropriate, various communities, organizations, or groups.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or related field from an accredited college or university; A.B.D. (All But Dissertation) candidates will be considered, but a Doctorate by the date of appointment is required; demonstrated teaching excellence at the college or university level through student evaluations and, if available, peer evaluations; an active research agenda and/or strong potential for research productivity gained concurrently or at any time; willingness to commit to active engagement in departmental activities, service and initiatives.

A teaching or research specialization in Race and Gender in criminal justice/criminology is required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference for this position will be given to candidates that specialize in the area of Race and Gender in criminal justice/criminology with a pedagogical approach that includes cultural competence. In addition to Race and Gender in criminal justice/criminology, preferences will be given to those with a subspecialty in Victimology.

Demonstrated teaching excellence at the college or university level through student evaluations and, if available, peer evaluations; an active research agenda and/or strong potential for research productivity; willingness to commit to active engagement in departmental activities, service and initiatives.

A teaching or research specialization in Race and Gender in criminal justice/criminology is required for this position.
