About the position:
The video producer reports directly to the multimedia project manager and is part of the multimedia team within the Course Development and Training (CDT) team. This is a creative position that works collaboratively with a team of video producers, marketing managers, faculty, staff, and others. The video producer plans, organizes, and directs video production, and is responsible for ensuring the quality of video and multimedia content is of a high standard.
The CDT unit provides expertise and support for the development of online and hybrid courses, including instructional design services, innovative multimedia development, and faculty development programming and support.

Position duties include:
- Video production
- Works independently or with a team of collaborators to plan and set up video equipment for video shoots, live streams, podcasts, and live events
- Post-Production
- Reviews produced media and consults with faculty members and subject experts involved in the project to identify video, graphics, and multimedia needs for online classes.
- Edits video and provides revisions based on editorial notes from SME. Helps maintain current and create new course materials.
- Project management/administration
- Uses project management systems to work directly with others on videos throughout the entire process.
- Help ensure programming reflects strategic priorities of each unit; organizes the distribution of productions on the web and through live events.
- Serves as project manager for video productions and organizes equipment arrangements for productions to ensure equipment availability for team members.
- Contacts appropriate course development/project participants to schedule and coordinate meetings and support faculty in providing video and multimedia content for their courses.
- Lead work
- Provides leadership and direction for assigned student workers and interns.
- Professional development and service
- Consults with video team to identify emerging technologies, trends, and resources in video production for distribution along with making budget recommendations to unit managers and directors.
- Represents the division at professional workshops, conferences, forums, trade shows, customer meetings, and other opportunities for constituents and clients.

Minimum (required) qualifications:
- This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills of technology and information systems generally obtained through an AA degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified course work in applicable fields of study and at least one year of related work experience.
- Demonstrated work experience and skills in video shooting and editing.
- Demonstrated work experience with lighting, audio recording, and color correction.
- Strong ability to multitask under deadlines.
- Evidence of expertise in the use of video production equipment.
- Proven project management experience and ability to work on multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively on a team and across multiple teams/units.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro and Media Encoder.
- Demonstrable contribution to promoting and enhancing diversity.
- This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
- This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in film, marketing, broadcast journalism or related field, or an equivalent amount of training and experience to obtain the foundation of knowledge and skills in new media production.
- Demonstrates motion graphic skills using After Effects or other similar software.
- Skilled and/or trained in multimedia design and/or other animation/3-D/multimedia tools.
- Demonstrates excellent computer skills beyond video editing software.
- Experience with enterprise-level video storage and networking systems.
- Experience with enterprise-level Media Asset Management (MAM) software.
- Demonstrates color correction skills using Adobe programs and DaVinci Resolve.
- Experience with live video production systems. Including switching and recording via Blackmagic systems, or similar hardware and software.
- Experience producing content for online learning.
Work conditions and schedule:
This position will be required to pack, transport, unload, and set up 20-200 lbs. of video production equipment in a variety of working environments. This work could be with team members or individually based on the requirements of the video shoot.
Must be able to carry 20-50 lbs. of camera gear to locations. May include hiking into remote locations.
Working locations and conditions include, but are not limited to:
- Video studio, offices, labs, farms, factories, businesses, and conference centers.
- Working outdoors in all types of weather may include working in or near water.
- Working near or around domesticated and/or wild animals.
- Working from elevated locations such as ladders or lifts.
Some evening and weekend work may be required.
Travel for video shoots and conferences may be required.
