Full-Time SENIOR DONOR RELATIONS OFFICER – EAST

YOUR OPPORTUNITY
As the Senior Donor Relations Officer, you will play an integral role to the success of The Humane League’s expanding Development program, and will be critical to helping a high-impact organization achieve sustainable growth. You are a great candidate for this role if you are an experienced relationship-builder and philanthropic strategist, passionate about The Humane League’s mission, have the ability to work objectively and as a member of a team in a fast-paced environment, and be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects efficiently. The Senior Donor Relations Officer will report to the Director of Donor Relations, and will work closely with the President, Vice President of Development, and other Donor Relations team members to cultivate, solicit, and steward our most generous supporters.
This is a full-time, remote, U.S. based position. This position requires domestic and international travel, this is equivalent to approximately 6-10 trips per year. Candidates must reside in either the Eastern or Central time zones, preference given to candidates who reside in New York City.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for a portfolio of approximately 50 high-net worth people in the Eastern United States to secure four- to six-figure gifts totaling at least $1M
- Collaborate with Development and Leadership staff to support Executive-level major gifts fundraising for our six- to seven-figure donors
- Write donor proposals, impact reports, and general updates in collaboration with the Leadership team and program staff
- Solicit and guide committees of donor volunteers to host private house parties in collaboration with the Events & Engagement Specialist
- Collaborate with Development staff to qualify and upgrade major giving prospects from annual fund and mid-level programs
- Stay current on The Humane League’s programs and theory of change to effectively articulate our mission and represent our work to the public
- Support the development of expertise in the entire Donor Relations team by sharing learning, providing guidance, and collaborating on developing improved processes
- Conduct research and briefings on donors and prospects
- Work with program staff to draft tailored donor correspondence, proposals, impact reports, and other communications
- Maintain detailed donor files in the donor database
- Maintain a comprehension of related philanthropic opportunities including but not limited to legacy giving, foundation giving, leadership giving, and peer-to-peer giving
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Four or more years of directly applicable professional experience in major gifts fundraising
- Track record of soliciting and securing five- to seven-figure gifts
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategies and overcome obstacles to achieve goals
- Solid ability to communicate persuasively verbally, in presentations, and in writing
- Outstanding organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize activities, and be flexible in adjusting expectations as new developments occur
- Sound capacity to take initiative, work independently, and follow through to execute on project ideas
- Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality regarding all aspects of work
- Exceptional listening and social skills, including curiosity, appreciation, and diplomacy
- Ability to maintain composure, flexibility, and levity under tight deadlines
- Willingness to take direction and embrace a collaborative spirit
- Availability to work night and weekend hours as needed
Starting salary $66,555 or salary to commensurate with experience.
