Full-Time Medical Billing Specialist

We do have a partially remote (hybrid) work option available after completion of the initial training period.

 

You can be a medical biller anywhere, but here you can make a difference. You can be that calm voice on the phone who reassures a patient. You will provide indispensable expertise that helps our health care providers get paid for their services. At the same time, you’ll serve as a patient advocate in settling accounts and helping to decipher the complexities surrounding insurance claims.  In this role, you help both the patient and the professional optimize the insurance benefit. You must work hard and be computer savvy, fast on the numeric keypad, and excellent at maintaining precision when entering and processing data. The successful applicant must possess a solid understanding of medical billing concepts and excellent written and verbal communication skills.  We hire people that have a *positive attitude* and genuinely love what they do.  This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Pay: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enter information necessary for insurance claims such as patient, insurance ID, diagnosis and treatment codes and modifiers, and provider information.
  • Submit insurance claims to clearinghouse or individual insurance companies electronically or via paper CMS-1500 form.
  • Answer patient questions on patient responsible portions, copays, deductibles, write-offs, etc.
  • Follow up with insurance company on unpaid or rejected claims.
  • Resolve issue and re-submit claims within standard billing cycle timeframe.
  • Prepare appeal letters to insurance carrier when not in agreement with claim denial.
  • Work with patients to establish payment plan for past due accounts.
  • Provide necessary information to collection agencies for delinquent or past due accounts.
  • Post insurance and patient payments using medical claim billing software.
  • Perform collections for patient past due accounts.

 

Basic Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Two years medical billing experience.

 

Preferred Skills/Experience:

Certified Professional Coder a plus.

Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Strong customer service skills

EMR experience

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and employees.

Basic understanding of medical ICD 9 & ICD 10 codes and CPT medical billing codes.

Detail oriented, well organized and ability to prioritize work.

Familiarity with HIPAA privacy requirements for patient information.

Good telephone and patient relation skills.

Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices especially Medicare and state Medicaid.
