Burris Laboratory School welcomes applications for a one-year contract as Interim Principal and Chairperson.
Burris Laboratory School was established to provide a stellar K-12 educational environment in which pre-service teachers from Ball State University observe and provide learning opportunities for students with highly effective teachers using innovative instructional strategies aligned with Indiana standards.
The interim Principal and Chairperson of Burris will work with Teachers College and other BSU colleagues in preparing high quality education professionals, provide leadership in supervision and evaluation of curriculum and instruction, professional development of faculty/staff, and action research related to the school and university’s mission, as well as guarantee a high quality curriculum in all grades and subjects. Additional responsibilities include: oversee the school’s budget and compensation of faculty/staff, and communicate and work effectively with stakeholders of Burris Laboratory School, parents, community members, Burris alumni, and university personnel.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. Three years of teaching experience at the elementary, middle, or secondary school level; at least two years of administrative experience at the building level as the assistant principal or principal. Hold or be eligible to hold an Indiana principal’s license.
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution. Experience working with university pre-service and/or student teachers; experience working in a laboratory school.
