Full-Time Case Manager at Supportive Family Housing

Job Description

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Case Manager provides trauma-informed case management services designed to prevent homelessness and stabilize housing for tenants who have been homeless. This includes assessment, information and referral, goal setting, and direct advocacy, cooperative case planning and coordination of services. They assist and empower residents to make necessary connections with community and providers in order to stabilize their lives. This is a unionized position, represented by Local 8 of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU).

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Compass Broadview is a program which opened to residents in March 2019. This building has 58 permanent supportive housing units offered to individuals and families. There are units set aside for families who have experienced homelessness, other units for qualified applicants at 30% and 50% below Area Median Income (AMI). Services help to resolve barriers and to enhance strengths the residents possess. Onsite case management, community engagement and partnerships are a priority of this program.

LOCATION: Broadview Neighborhood (Seattle, WA)
REPORTS TO: Program Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 9am-5:30pm; with weekly staff meetings
SALARY RANGE: $21.21 (Level 1) per hour
FULL-TIME BENEFITS PACKAGE INCLUDES: Unlimited Orca Transportation Pass, Medical/Prescription/Vision, Dental, $500 Health Flexible Spending Account 4 Weeks of Paid Time Off (PTO) & 11 Paid Holidays, Retirement Plan, Employee Assistance Program.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree is desired in social work, human services, psychology, or related field. Or relevant work experience, certificate and/or equivalent continuing professional development or education.
• A minimum of 1-year experience in case management, desired.
• A minimum of 2-years’ experience in a social/human service setting related to housing and homelessness, required.
• Awareness and/or training around issues of equity, intersectionality, and belonging.
• Current WA State Food Handlers Permit, desired (If not current, will be sponsored within 1-month of hire).
• Familiarity with issues of homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence, required.
• Valid WA driver’s license, proof of car insurance, and a driving record that meets Compass standards, required.

 

SITE RESPONSABILITIES
• Participate in programming needs such as Child Safety and Well-Being, Education and Enrichment, College/career Readiness, Social & Recreational Activities, Nutrition & Employment Support, Food or Meal Service, Special events/activities for residents all ages & abilities and Life skill support in unit cleanliness, healthy living, budgeting, etc.
• Organize, lead, and supervise recreational activities for school-age students and adults such as: Homework Assistance, Experiential Learning and Recreational activities (i.e. arts/crafts, games, kinesthetic activities)
• Participate and support the development of monthly newsletter, flyers and communication for upcoming events, resources, and learning opportunities.
• Lead tutoring groups, classes, field trips in collaboration with Program Manager & Community Partners.
• Collaborate with local resources and service providers to enhance resident opportunities.
• Support and engage with volunteers.
• Attend & participate in community meetings with residents.
• Perform housing property duties such as unit inspections, walking the property and light cleaning/sanitizing tasks.
