Part-Time Business Development Assoicate

Job Description

SUMMARY: Provides an array of business and income development services and educational support services.  Conducts outreach, recruitment, and client services for the Skills Enhancement Program for adults wishing to obtain higher wages through an advanced degree or certificate. Provides case management support for adults in our Skills Enhancement program. Develops and maintain relationships with higher education institutions to support enrollment in our program. Supports the Business and Income Developer in a variety program development activity to help entrepreneurs enrolled in our business development programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties maybe assigned.

Supports and upholds Couleecap’s mission to fight poverty and promote self-sufficiency for individuals by helping to identify needs, mobilize resources, and provide quality services.

Develop and maintain relationships with educational, civic, and economic development organizations.  Provides information on Couleecap programs and services.

Establishes recruitment opportunities with local educational institutions.  Maintains relationships with the enrollment offices to bring new participants into our program.

Conducts application processes with prospective clients.  Completes work verifications and income calculations to determine program eligibility.

Maintains case files with accurate case notes and documentation of activities; prepare and submits accurate reports.  Assists with program assessment or monitoring processes.

Provides case management support to Skills program participants.  Maintains at least monthly communication with participants to ensure they are on track to meeting their educational goals.  Works with them to problem solve any issues or situations that come up so that they can remain on track to competing school.

Assists Business and Income Developer in managing Business and Economic Development Programs.  This may entail helping coordinate local programs and activities and enrolling participants in the program.

Attends community events on behalf of Couleecap.

Other related duties as assigned by the Business and Income Developer.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Work experience in, or enrolled in, business management, business development, marketing, or some related field of study program.  If enrolled in a program, must be a maximum of two years from graduation.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Access to reliable, licensed, insured driver and transportation.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:  Knowledge of continuing educations; ability to assist individuals in the development of career goals; ability to express self clearly in written and oral form; understanding of ethnic/cultural issues; good judgment, initiative, tact, and courtesy.
