We are looking for a talented Powertrain Product Validation – Technical Specialist for New Power Business Unit located in west Sacramento, CA.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:
• This product focused position verifies and validates the functionality of Cummins’ products across a wide range of customer requirements, across a variety of applications, in various environments. This work plans, tracks, and evaluates results from a wide range of analyses and functional tests to assess product risk and performance. These results are expected to drive quality decisions and proactively resolve product issues before the product reaches the customer.
• Obtains input and negotiates with Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) stakeholders to define technical requirements and delivers an optimized subsystem-based analytical and experimental verification plan to the program or project team.
• Makes decisions in the areas of verification and validation that impact product performance, reliability, and durability.
• Investigates and addresses potential system concerns or issues, understands causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, owns problem resolution and documents results with guidance from more experienced team members.
• Applies and improves processes such as technical requirements, iDFMEA, Engineering Standard Work (ESW), DVP&R optimization, test standards, and problem solving and tools such as Integrity, Microsoft Power BI, and McParts required to support the processes and enable high quality decision making.
• Provides independent leadership of smaller business impact projects or ownership of complex components, products, systems or services with greater elements of ambiguity over the senior or lead engineer level and with full accountability to the project team.
• Delivers independent execution of established and emerging work processes and systems, while still developing technology or product knowledge.
• Provides support and guidance to influence technical direction within a project team and continues to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.
• Operates as a recognized specialist in a discipline or product area within the immediate team.

Education, Licenses, Certifications
University, or equivalent Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required.

Experience
Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience (4 plus years) in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making. Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred.
• Support Fuel Cell lab design and equipment installation with suppliers and external contractors. Provide technical support with external contractor and equipment supplier for lab commissioning
• Lead internal effort for future lab capability expansion, including Hardware in the Loop (HIL), computing capabilities with interface in Cummins’ visualization testing environment.
• Develop product test processes, procedures, and plans for validation of Fuel cell module, engine, as well as powertrain components and system
• Be a technical expert (user) for fuel cell test equipment and hydrogen infrastructure/technologies
• Provide technical support for lab operation and be a product validation specialist for fuel cell components and powertrain
• Fuel cell & high voltage system experience is preferred, not required

Base hourly rate commensurate with experience.
