Full-Time Emergency Management Officer
Job Description
The Tacoma Fire Department (TFD) is currently seeking a motivated and experienced professional who is interested in managing the Emergency Preparedness functions for the City of Tacoma, including all General Government and in partnership with Tacoma Public Utilities. This position will provide program direction, maintaining consistency and coordination of processes and preparedness, and consult with and advise the Fire Chief or their designee on all matters related to emergency management.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Master’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, Emergency Management and Preparedness, or related field and three years of progressively responsible experience in emergency management and preparedness.
Six or more years of progressively responsible experience in emergency management and preparedness; and two years of supervisory/management experience.
LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Emergency Management certification strongly preferred, through FEMA Emergency Management Institute or International Association of Emergency Managers.
- FEMA ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800 training.
