We are looking for a talented Mechanical System Performance Analysis Technical Advisor to join our team specializing in Corporate Strategy in Fridley, MN.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:
• This applied science, developing leadership position conducts numerical computations via third party and in-house tools to determine structural performance of components and systems. Creates and manages software and methods. Advises and guides less experienced simulation engineers. The results from the computer models are used to determine the validity of the design to meet the customer requirements. Design recommendations are then provided as needed.
• Obtains input and negotiates with Design, Thermal Sciences, Materials and Product Validation as well as vendors and delivers key structural performance parameters like motion, load, natural frequencies, stress, design margin, life, sound power, etc. to Design and Product Validation as well as vendors.
• Uses systems knowledge and expertise to make decisions in the area of structural design (materials and their processing as well as geometry) that impact structural performance (motion, load, natural frequencies, stress, design margin, life, sound power, etc.) of components and systems
• Creates, manages, improves and applies computer modeling processes that estimate motion, load, natural frequencies, stress, design margin, life, sound power, etc. and tools such as ANSYS, FE-Safe, GT-Suite, and AVL Excite required to support the processes and enable high quality decision making. Provides problem resolution leadership for complex systems with a high degree of ambiguity and often global business impact.

• Leads the development and improvement of work processes and systems across function(s) within a global business unit or managing improvement across business units. Coordinates and directs work of technical project teams, up to and including direct management of small to mid-sized teams.
• Operates as the recognized multi-competency specialist or expert in a discipline or product area across a site or global business unit with responsibility for developing local talent (direct or indirect).

Licenses, Certifications
University, or equivalent bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required. Post-graduate (Master’s) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.

Experience
Prior Technical Specialist/Specialist Engineering equivalent work experience (7 plus years) in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving, quality decision making and providing technical direction and leadership to a project team(s).
• Preferred candidates would have a mix of experience using MS Office tools, Matlab, Python, APDL-ANSYS, FORTRAN or C programming, Windows/Linux operating systems, and desktop/remote high-performance computing hardware systems.
• Responsible for developing SOFC system performance modes and conducting system performance simulation analysis. Fuel cell experience is preferred, not required.
• The candidate is expected to be proficient in modeling tools such as Aspen, GT Power and Amesim or similar platforms.
• Play a key part in Analysis Led Design (ALD) efforts in building SOFC system models in support of architecture selection, key performance trade-offs, performance validation, failure investigations.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
