Full-Time Gender Integration Principal

Summary:

Tetra Tech ES, Inc., based in Arlington, VA, is seeking a Gender Integration Principal to provide technical expertise to support Tetra Tech’s adherence to best practice and standards in technical gender analysis and integration within activities, projects and proposals in the energy and infrastructure sectors, including at the nexus of water, energy, climate, agriculture, and finance.  The Gender Integration Principal will work as part of Tetra Tech’s team of energy experts and report out of our office in Arlington, VA, however, there may be flexibility for the candidate to work remotely.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Interact directly with clients, work independently on complex short-term assignments, and lead small projects and teams
  • Support USAID and other donor-funded projects to develop project- and activity-specific gender equality and social inclusion assessments and analyses, in accordance with USAID ADS 205 and the USAID Gender Equality and Female Empowerment Policy (2012), based both on literature review and in-country project-specific fieldwork involving primary data collection and/or collaboration with project-specific gender specialists
  • Provide on-demand technical assistance and advisory for specific projects and activities to support development and implementation of gender action and social inclusion plans, project staff capacity building and training, and other activities to support gender integration, and facilitate other knowledge management activities
  • Provide guidance to the project-specific gender specialist on the design and execution of gender equality and social inclusion related project activities and on the associated performance monitoring reporting.
  • Develop strategies and action plans for supporting gender lens investment initiatives at the nexus of gender, energy, and investment/ finance
  • Document and report on project activities, conduct technical reviews and prepare technical presentations, reports, strategy papers and other deliverables
  • Support Tetra Tech’s business development activities by identifying new clients and business opportunities, leading the development, and writing of gender equality and social inclusion specific proposals or integrating gender equality and social inclusion into broader energy sector proposals
  • Represent Tetra Tech as a thought leader at conferences, webinars and on social media platforms sharing project success, lessons learned and Tetra Tech insights
  • Serve as a project manager on contracts coordinating technical, operational, administrative and financial items
  • Strengthen Tetra Tech’s institutionalization of gender integration in standards of practice and staff orientation
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Essential KSA’s required (experience, skills, education, certification, etc.)

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in international affairs, gender studies, anthropology, international development, sociology, or another related field is required
  • Minimum 7 years of gender equality analysis and action plan implementation experience required
  • Proven track-record of designing and implementing practical and actionable USAID ADS-205 compliant gender analyses and gender action plans
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong research capabilities, using a variety of primary and secondary sources.
  • Strong organizational, teamwork and technical skills.
  • Must be able to manage several tasks simultaneously and re-prioritize as necessary.
  • Must work effectively under deadlines, both independently and as a team member.
  • Must be able to produce accurate and complete documents in a timely manner.
  • Excellent writing and listening skills to communicate complex information to a variety of audiences
  • Must speak, read, and write in English
  • Willingness to travel internationally to project locations and conferences.

Valued but not required KSA’s:

  • Experience with gender analysis or gender integration within energy and infrastructure sectors or at the nexus of water, energy, climate, agriculture, and finance
  • Experience with gender lens investing
  • Experience developing and delivering capacity training/ workshops on gender integration and social inclusion
  • Ability to work professionally in a foreign language: French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian or Portuguese
