Assistant Teaching Professor of Architecture

The Department of Architecture at Ball State University seeks applicants for one full-time contract faculty position for the academic year 2021-22, starting August 20, 2021. Major responsibility: teaching undergraduate level design studios.

 

The R. Wayne Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning (CAP) at Ball State University has a rich history in community engaged, professionally grounded, innovative and impactful design education. The Department of Architecture offers undergraduate and graduate architecture programs that emphasize the education of architecture and historic preservation students through design studio, immersive and experiential learning, design computation, digital fabrication, engagement with social and environmental justice issues, and critical practice in pursuit of preparing the next generation of leaders in architecture and historic preservation. We are committed to reaffirm the values of social equity and environmental responsibility, in particular as they relate to the design of the built environment.

 

Duties and responsibilities: Includes design studios and/or support courses in one or more of the following areas; introductory survey courses in environmental systems; structures; research methods; design media; visualization and representational methods; computational design and fabrication; professional practice.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Architecture or related field from an accredited college or university.

 

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Professional degree in Architecture (Master’s degree in Architecture or related field from an accredited college or university); demonstrated ability to teach design studio and related courses in a professional degree program; professional license in Architecture or a PhD; professional practice experience; evidence of outstanding design skills and excellence in architectural design work; evidence of contributions to the profession; evidence of the potential for teaching excellence; evidence of the potential for quality scholarship.
