The Director of Monitoring & Evaluation is a motivated, flexible and collaborative member of the Performance and Evaluation (P&E) team at Urban Teachers national, reporting directly to the Executive Director of Performance & Evaluation. This role is responsible for creating and overseeing the organization’s measurement framework and analysis requests to support departments and teams. This includes providing the organization and external stakeholders with data metrics about the program primarily to inform program monitoring, evaluation and improvement as well as for development and marketing purposes.

We are looking for someone who is experienced in program evaluation, passionate about continuous improvement and loves a clean data set. Responsibilities

  • Provide and monitor all organizational metrics, including, but not limited to, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Team Performance Indicators (TPIs), strategic and priority plan metrics, funder metrics, and official reporting metrics.
  • Create a measurement framework that will encompass a new evaluation system that will guide Urban Teachers’ internal and external research and evaluation priorities inclusive of a new performance monitoring system.
  • Ensure visibility of data metrics and monitoring/evaluation results to entire organization and report and present to executive leadership and teams/departments.
  • Stakeholder feedback survey creation, dissemination, and analysis.
  • Manage all internal data requests with P&E team.
  • Responsible for the AmeriCorps partnership evaluation plan and analysis of evaluation metrics.
  • Work to ensure organizational understanding of Urban Teachers’ historical data in areas such as admissions, attrition, retention and participant experience and performance, with particular attention to calling out racial disparities
  • Manage Data Analyst (direct report).
  • Other duties to support the P&E as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

  • At least 1-3 years of evaluation experience in a similar or closely related role.
  • Master’s degree in: Statistics & Measurement, Education, Public Policy, Psychology, Public Administration, Public Health, etc.
  • Experience creating, editing, and disseminating surveys to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience conducting focus groups and in-depth interviews.
  • Experience analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Demonstrated success in data analysis with a strong history of meeting and exceeding goals.
  • Alignment with Urban Teachers’ values (listed below).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects to meet deadlines.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Skills & Experience
These following skills are not required. If you do not have these skills or experiences, do not let that prevent you from applying if you are otherwise qualified.

  • Familiarity with Salesforce and R.
  • Experience working with students and/or education data.
  • Familiarity with data visualization software.
  • Management experience supporting direct reports.
  • Experience with Google and Microsoft Office suites, particularly Gmail, Google calendar, Google forms, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
