Job Description
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION AT IMPRO THEATRE
Responsibilities include:
· Fundraising, grant writing, and maintaining the financial health of the organization.
· Overseeing all business operations, staff, and programming initiatives for a dynamic and rapidly growing improvisational theatre company and school.
· Preparing and implementing comprehensive business strategies and plans to facilitate achievement.
· Working closely with staff leadership to support goals related to the programming, operations, and community.
· Facilitating the development of our Board of Directors and providing them with updates and strategic recommendations.
· Overseeing marketing for all operations.
· Fostering effective communication among our various constituencies and stakeholders.
· Supporting our diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) initiatives to help us grow into a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable organization.
ABOUT IMPRO THEATRE
Impro Theatre is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization based in the Los Feliz district of Los Angeles where we run a year-round schedule of performances, workshops, and corporate training programs. Founded in 1988 as Los Angeles Theatresports, the company rebooted in 2003 to become Impro Theatre. Impro Theatre has become a unique theatre company that performs completely improvised full-length plays in various styles. Combining high-quality theatrical production values with the visceral experience of narrative improvisational theatre, our productions have been performed throughout Southern California at The Broad Stage, Wallis Annenberg Center for Performing Arts, Pasadena Playhouse, and many more. We have also produced and presented shows nationally and globally that have garnered us an international reputation. Impro is the only unscripted theatre company in Los Angeles to be nominated for multiple Ovation Awards, and the Los Angeles Times has written, “Impro Theatre has evolved into a powerhouse improvisational company in full-length shows that are off-the-cuff and consistently hilarious. A Los Angeles treasure, the company should be seen — and reseen!”
The Impro Theatre School is an academy where we teach our own formalized curriculum and curated electives. Students of all levels learn classical training and skills to improvise Impro’s core repertoire styles. The school has a faculty of 15 as well as special guest teachers and a student body with over 150 enrollments annually. Student and community performances take place at our 35-seat Impro Studio. Impro Theatre has an annual budget of $400,000 with a part-time staff of 8.
