People and Culture Strategist Job Description

 Foundry10 is a philanthropic education research organization located in the University District neighborhood in Seattle. We work in collaboration with program developers and external partners to conduct research that expands how practitioners, communities, and other researchers think about learning. Foundry10 offers competitive salaries, benefits, and vacation time. This position is located in Seattle, WA and will require the candidate to work in the office when it is safe to do so.

Foundry10 is seeking a full-time People and Culture Strategist to support the success of our internal teams. This role works with individual teams to improve functionality, processes, and cross-teams collaboration. The People and Culture Strategist advises, coaches, trains and assists with problem resolutions.  This person will work closely with our Organization Leadership Team to create aligned support and accountability structures for our 25 internal teams. Foundry10 is a small company with a non-traditional structure and this position is integral to the effectiveness of our teams.

Responsibilities

Team support

  • Connect with individuals who work across teams to make sure teams are functioning optimally and teams and individuals have a clear understanding of what is expected of them and benchmarks for their work
  • Maximize team level of functionality by establishing and holding performance metrics and optimizing team performance in partnership with team leads
  • Define, support, and shape team roles and individual professional development matched to those team roles
  • Advise, coach and facilitate problem solving solutions for team performance and group interaction.
  • Coordinate and work with other people focused roles in the Org to represent and think dynamically about Team function and roles
  • Work with Strategy and Operations to identify process and tool improvements to enhance performance and team function
  • Ensures that teams are acting in alignment with organizational mission and values
  • Facilitate training that enhances team growth, performance, and culture.
  • Assist teams with goal development and annual program planning
  • This position will sit on the Organizational Leadership Team and report directly to the CEO

Individual Development

  • Onboard new team members to our unique team structure
  • Identify and provide training and development in necessary areas to maximize team success
  • Mentor team leaders to encourage their continued growth and development

Team culture

  • Facilitate team retreats and trainings including our weekly all staff meeting
  • Serve as a strong communications link between organizational leadership and other internal teams
  • Work with other people focused roles to develop and maintain a collective performance culture
  • Find creative and meaningful ways to acknowledge team successes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience plus five years of experience in relevant fields such as human resources business partner, employee relations, or organizational development.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams or other organizational groups, particularly in areas related to organizational function and/or change
  • Experience and expertise with a range of people-development oriented skills and strategies and a demonstrated interest and investment in continuing to hone and further develop those areas
  • Successful experience in interpersonal conflict resolution, group dynamics issues, and employee and team performance coaching is preferable.
  • Experience in handling employee and team relations through the lens of HR or Organizational Development would be helpful and desired
  • Experience in creating, strategizing and implementing frameworks that add/evolve company culture that is relevant to its employees
  • Experience in building adaptive and dynamic community through excellent group facilitation
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and tangible ability to, motivate, provide critical feedback to, and connect with employees at various skill levels and in different phases of their development.

  • Knowledge of best practices in leadership skills and development, providing effective feedback, and coaching in a group setting

  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Effective and outstanding presentation skills
  • A strong track record as an action-oriented implementer who thrives on managing a variety of projects and initiatives concurrently
  • Ability to work self-sufficiently, learn new skills and identify areas for process improvement
  • Able to make tough decisions professionally in a timely manner
  • High degree of confidentiality and discretion
  • Strong interest and commitment to continued personal growth and development within the role
  • Experience and understanding of the challenges of working in flatter, non-traditional organization structure is helpful.
