Full-Time Sr. Grants Administrator, Pre-Award

Job Description

The Heller School at Brandeis University seeks to hire a Grants Administrator to provide financial and grant management expertise and is responsible for the pre-award management of a large and diverse portfolio of federal and non-federal grants, contracts and sub-awards for several major research centers and institutes. This person will serve as the primary liaison between the University and principal investigators to ensure compliance with sponsor regulations and University requirements. Works closely with principal investigators and researchers to provide pre-award support for proposal development.

Examples of Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages pre-award proposal submissions, including review of application requirements, budget preparation and application completion for designated departments, programs, centers or organizations. Requires working closely with the principal investigator, proposal team and the Office of Research Administration to ensure all sponsor and institution policies and deadlines are met.
  • Reviews proposals and proposal budgets submitted by faculty and staff for effectiveness and compliance with funding agency and University guidelines;
  • Works with faculty and staff members in the preparation of their proposals and at the institutional review stage;
  • Presents proposals to upper level administration for final approval prior to submission. The individual will be responsible for the submission of grant proposals, both electronically and otherwise, as appropriate.

Skills & Qualifications:

Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred. At least 5-8 years of related work experience.

The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational and time management skills to achieve timely progress on multiple simultaneous complex projects, meet tight deadlines, goals, objectives and maintain a high level of productivity and accuracy, interpersonal and communication skills to interact professionally with staff & faculty, colleagues, campus departments and other outside agencies,

Computer skills and experience in, but not limited to, Access, Word, Excel and the skills to manipulate and extract data and work from a variety of sources (databases, Word files, plaint text files, PDF, email, etc.)
