Fiveable’s Mission
Our mission is to make learning easy and fun. We know that educational inequities have left students overwhelmed and fending for themselves. In order to close the opportunity gap, we need to create space for students to be creative and curious. To do this, we’ve created a social network for online learning communities through interactive content and courses. Because of COVID, we’re in a lightning strike moment for education and we’re fired up to change the way things are for high school students.
We need folks on our team who are excited about the opportunity both from a business and social impact position. Last school year, we reached 1.4M students mostly coming from Google and we’re excited to support even more students this year.

Who we’re looking for
As the Community Manager, you will be responsible for growing our digital community spaces both on Discord and the Fiveable app. You will also be the leader in spearheading new community growth initiatives that will align with our move beyond APs, and will own the trust & safety program that help keep our students engaged and safe.
You thrive in stressful situations and feel comfortable making decisions that benefit and center students. Building new systems, optimizing existing infrastructure, and creating cross-functional feedback loops genuinely excite you. Most importantly, you aren’t afraid to experiment, fail, learn from your efforts, and try again.

You have:
- 1-2 years of demonstrated success in building online communities from the ground up
- Passion for education and a growing knowledge of the EdTech industry
- Experience connecting with Gen Z
- Ideas for growing, engaging, and retaining an active community space based on data and listening to students
- High attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively
- Skills in mediation and culture building via digital ecosystems

Responsibilities
Build, grow, and retain a positive community space for high school students
- Collaborate with the Product, Learning, and Student Success teams to ensure the entire Fiveable student experience is aligned to meet strategic objectives
- Work with student leaders to design community norms and structures for ensuring the happiness and safety of all community members
- Develop strategies for encouraging positive community engagement with students interacting regularly through posts, discussions, and events (virtual, video, and voice chats) both in Discord and on Fiveable
- Build upon Fiveable’s in-house trust and safety program to include culture building, mental health support, and other strategic partnerships that expand Fiveable’s wraparound support efforts
- Grow the community through inbound and outbound strategies by working with Fiveable interns, school clubs & other student-centered organizations-
