The Opportunity
Led by the Regional Energy Projects Manager, this role will be become part of the regional energy project team for the East and West Midlands, aligning with the Midlands Energy Hub for which energy projects and programmes can be developed and delivered. Building on Nottingham’s highly successful Carbon Reduction, Energy and Sustainability division this post covers the whole of the Midlands region. The successful candidate will be employed by Nottingham City Council. Applications are invited from across this geographical region, with Nottingham being the main place of work; there will also be the option for some home working as agreed with the line manager.
The Role
- Develop stakeholder engagement plans, supporting communications to stakeholders and respond to stakeholder enquiries
- Provide briefings and support for meetings with stakeholders and ensure feedback of stakeholder responses and requests are responded to within agreed timescales
- Attend client-facing meetings, prepare and manage workshops, roundtable and forum logistics including project plans and provide input into monthly reports for LAD Project Board and Hub board
- Ensure accurate audit trail maintained of all stakeholder engagement and all contact/activities are recorded on stakeholder database
- Provide advice and support to colleagues to improve engagement with stakeholders including developing and managing a local government engagement plan exploring how to improve our identification and co-ordination of stakeholder engagement and how our resources could be used to help them better engage with different audiences
- Involved in supporting any outsourced programme support, managing the supplier relationship where required
- Work with the respective teams to prepare proposals and ongoing reports; advising and supporting on effective influence planning using a range of channels, tools and resources to achieve maximum impact with target stakeholders and manage project implementation as needed
- Develop effective working relationships with experts and colleagues, and working effectively with them to establish credibility and become a trusted advisor
- Use stakeholder feedback, trends and data with a strong focus on evaluation and learning to develop insights and drive communication strategies, helping to drive innovation and improvement in the way things are done, to inform strategic plans and service delivery
- Undertake any other tasks which are reasonable as directed by the Regional Energy Projects Manager or Head of Energy Services (NCC).
Skills & Experience required
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to produce clear, persuasive and accessible communication outputs
- Experience of interpreting complex information and distilling it into key messages that can be easily understood by key stakeholder groups
- Understanding of GDPR and work closely with colleagues and external stakeholders to ensure compliance while meeting project objectives
- Experience in developing and successfully implementing stakeholder engagement plans
- Research experience and ability to use this to provide insight and innovation
- Qualification or equivalent (degree level)
