The YMCADLG Youth Advice Centre (YAC) provides advice, support and guidance to young people in Brighton and Hove. YAC workers are able to offer expertise in a wide range of areas. Our aim is to provide young people in the local area with a safe and friendly environment where they can access helpful advice and support. We are the first place to go for housing advice for anyone under 26 years old who is homeless or threatened with homelessness. We also offer a family support and mediation service and a support and advice service providing sexual health advice and services, emotional and wellbeing support and benefits and money advice.
You will be part of a busy, energetic team providing reception and administrative support for the Youth Advice Centre, a multi-agency youth hub, enabling young people aged 11–25 years old to access appropriate information and advice on a wide range of issues. You will welcome clients and visitors, ensuring the drop-in space is well maintained and reflective of the needs of the young people. You will assist with the triage of all clients accessing the service and manage waiting lists, maintaining links with external agencies. You will be responsible for internal and external post systems and the maintenance of office equipment. In addition, you will be required to support with Social Media promotions and communications alongside the promotion and publicity of the service through mail-outs.
This role is based on site at the YAC in Brighton – working Wednesdays 9am – 5pm

You will be compassionate and determined to help support the lives of young people. You will be a strong team player who thrives in a busy environment and have an ability to relate to young people with varying needs. Some proven experience of safeguarding and experience of working with young people aged 11-25 would also be an advantage. A successful candidate would also be well organised, have good written and verbal communication skills and be competent with Microsoft Office packages.
