Job Description Summary
The primary role of this position is support of supervision in managing and directing shift operations. This position assists in administering company plans, policies, and procedures. This position is also responsible for maintaining efficient production, quality, and sanitation levels as well as minimizing waste levels. Must have knowledge of plant safety, personal hygiene and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and assist in administering these policies. Must demonstrate commitment to product quality and customer satisfaction.
Under the direction of the supervisor, this position is responsible for the peration of the warehouse and shipping areas. Coordinates the movement of cased and bulk production from the packaging area to frozen storages. Sets up all loading appointment of trucks, CO2 cars, and refrigerated cars for shipping to customers or storage locations. Schedules loading and unloading of trucks for shipping and receiving of components. Monitors work assignments of lift truck operators and cold storage laborers.Job DescriptionMaintains and promotes safe work practices at all times and assures that they are followed in all work groups, and participates in safety programs.
Coordinates trucking schedules with corporate trucking locations.
Assigns positions for lift truck operators.
Check appointment log for arrival time of trucks.
Checks in with truck drivers and assigns loading doors.
Completes load diagrams.
Assigns loads to lift truck operators.
Verifies loading of product.
Completes bills of lading.
Assures required conditions and temperatures are recorded.
Assigns bay locations for production and consolidates bays when necessary.
Assures employees are knowledgeable in jobs they perform.
Coordinates with the lift truck mechanic that lift truck batteries are operational and safe.
Operation of loading and filling of CO2 cars requires both arms and hands for hose connections and closing doors.
Operation of track-mobile (requires both legs, arms, and hands) for moving rail cars.
Completes shift end logs and reports.
Operates a lift truck and performs lift truck operator duties, as required.
Operates truck and rail ramps.
Works closely with packaging supervisor.
Computer knowledge for shift closing and reports EDI rail billing.
Knowledge of taking physical inventories of case, bulk supplies, and dry store areas.
Job Qualifications
This includes regular activities which are not listed under Essential Duties and Responsibilities. Additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor.
Understands product labeling, day codes, and manifesting systems.
Coordinates pallet size, stacking patters, and the overall measurement for proper utilization of storage space and loading of trucks and cars.
Trains lift truck drivers and cold storage laborers.
Must be knowledgeable of down time cleanup procedures.
Performs job function independently and with minimal supervision.
Must be knowledgeable of Company lockout procedures.
Keep product available for rework crews and help monitor their activity.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have good communication skills oral and written.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Must be able to adapt to extremes in temperatures, dust, fumes, vibration, and noise.
Basic knowledge of shipping and warehouse procedures and regulations.
Must be a qualified Lift Truck Operator.
