Full-Time VP, Enterprise Risk Management Strategist
Job Description
The primary function of the VP, ERM Strategy & Analytics Manager is to assist the EVP, Enterprise Risk Management in the maturation and implementation of the Bank’s Enterprise Risk Management program. The incumbent is charged with overseeing the administration and continued development of ERM’s Governance, Compliance and Risk (GRC) and Bank Board reporting system, Archer. This individual will work with department designees to collect and analyze data and ensure the integrity of the reporting process. This individual will analyze the data to determine evolving areas of risk and work to ensure appropriate controls and testing is in place for both the business line (first line) and second line. This individual also serves as resource in support of all the Enterprise Risk Management Department’s SVPs in the preparation of the budget, review of spending plans, development of productivity measures, and staffing models. This individual will also have oversight responsibilities of ERM level projects.
This individual will be expected to be a self-starter working under minimal supervision, will be accountable for making decisions appropriate for their position and level. In this role will be expected to identify when additional guidance from the EVP, Enterprise Risk Management is needed and escalate appropriately. As areas of risk are identified outside of the individual’s direct responsibilities, based on the nature of the risk this individual will be expected take the initiative to work with department management to minimize the risk or escalate to the department head.
Major Responsibilities:
- Oversees the administration and continued development of the GRC system including key risk programs and managing the Archer administration team.
- Oversight of the quarterly board reporting process for all the Bank’s designated risk domains and ensures the data is submitted in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Oversight of key ERM projects including the development and implementation of data analytics and reporting.
- Reviews data and trends to determine the efficacy of the Bank’s Risk Appetite Statement KRIs and KPIs, including correlation with risks and whether adjustments in metrics and associated ranges are necessary. Proactively work with business units to consider appropriate risk mitigation measures, as necessary.
- Engages with business lines to ensure a robust and comprehensive risk assessment process is in place.
- Identifies emerging risks that present new regulatory, fraud, information security, operational or money laundering risks. These include risks associated with new products and services, customer types, and delivery channels.
- Assists the ERM Department Heads in the formation of the budget, spending plan review, and the development of productivity metrics and staffing analyses.
- Recommends changes in policy or procedures based upon trend analysis conducted.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Master’s degree preferred
- Project Management designation preferred
- 5 – 7+ years of bank operations, technology, risk management, or other related experience
- Proven project management skills
Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Ability to apply technical regulatory compliance concepts to a business setting
- Knowledge of general banking operations is strongly preferred
- Ability to act on strategic initiatives
- Self-starter with ability to work under minimal supervision
- Effective conflict management skills and proven ability to enact change
- Ability to develop business partnerships at the senior management level
- Effective written and oral communications
