Full-Time VP, BSA Risk Manager (Req#2145)

Job Description

The VP, BSA Risk Manager advises the Bank’s SVP, BSA Director of emerging BSA-AML regulations and risks; and consults and guides the Bank in the establishment of policy and controls to mitigate risks.

This position oversees various quality control reviews and monitoring using industry standard and regulatory guidance sampling methods to ensure the Bank’s compliance efforts are maintained.

  • Responsible for managing and leading the Risk Team including training, coaching, motivation, and evaluation.
  • Coordinate, manage, analyze and execute BSA-AML and OFAC Risk Assessment annually or as needed with consideration to products, services, customers, and geographies that may present BSA-AML and OFAC related risks.
  • Analyze both qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Facilitate second line testing of BSA compliance including scheduling of BSA visits and BSA department quality control reviews, evaluation, and findings as to adherence to policy, procedure, controls, and systems controls/reporting for business units/services designated as high risk.
  • BSA primary stakeholder representation for Archer New Initiative process and completion of BSA risk assessment/participation in project team due to of onboarding new/revised product/service.
  • Assist business units in implementing processes necessary to comply with BSA-AML and OFAC regulations.
  • Participation in Regulatory Change management committee meetings to provide risk management assistance to the Enterprise risk Management Committee with respect to changes in the BSA landscape which impact Eastern Bank.
  • Preparation and maintenance of Model Documentation for current Verafin AML, EDD/CTR, and OFAC and new models.
  • Coordinate, manage and execute Model Change management documentation for the BSA models within Archer.
  • Preparation of BSA risk metrics.
  • Takes an active role in department meetings, providing updates on BSA/OFAC topics.
  • Assist the SVP, BSA Director in assigned projects and meetings.

The VP, BSA Risk Manager will demonstrate a high level of proficiency, skill, and knowledge. Develops goals and objectives for the BSA Risk area and directs the activities of the area assigned projects to achieve objectives.

Stay current and maintain knowledge of BSA-AML regulations, relevant industry news and best practices.  Develops and recommend new procedures within the BSA-AML department to ensure the most current methodologies and system enhancements are being utilized and implemented.

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of BSA/AML, Audit, or risk management experience.  Advanced level of understanding of the Bank Secrecy Act, sanctions laws and regulations, including but not limited to:  USA Patriot Act, Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC regulations, and in- depth knowledge of the FFIEC BSA Examination manual.
  • Ability to function in independent manner; confidently makes decisions, effectively interface with all levels of management, maintain collaborative partnership with our internal customers and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive engagement and the ability to successfully implement programs and security awareness.
  • Highly organized with project management skills; and ability to utilize technologies in support of a centralized BSA/AML unit to effectively manage the analytical aspects and suspect output.
