Part-Time Volunteer Coordinator
Job Description
- Works with Sr. Manager to recruit, select, place, process and on-board new volunteers. Conducts all initial correspondence with prospective volunteer applicants – running volunteer orientations, processing background checks and managing paperwork. Maintains active communication with applicants through the entire onboarding process
- Provides administrative support for volunteer programs as well as individual volunteers, such as reserving rooms, providing access badges, completing work orders, attending staff and volunteer meetings, etc.
- Maintains cleanliness and supplies in the Volunteer Lounge
- Supports Sr. Manager in creating SOPs and volunteer position descriptions
- Communicates Museum news and reinforces the Museum’s strategic direction to volunteer groups
- Assists with all volunteer events, including the large-scale annual volunteer recognition event, trainings, volunteer graduations, etc. Runs small-scale volunteer community events
- Supports Summer Camp Volunteer Liaison
- Collaborates with the Sr. Manager to track annual Volunteer budget and petty cash
- Maintains database of volunteers both in Volgistics and Altru to ensure accurate contact information and status of all volunteers
- Represents the Nat at occasional community outreach events
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
- Highly organized and detail oriented with strong administrative skills.
- Excellent skills in time management and multi-tasking.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Skilled in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Windows, Excel, MS Teams and Zoom.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Familiarity with database or CRM programs.
- Experience in program coordination.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or minimum of one year of professional program and event coordination
- Experience working successfully with a wide range of ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds
- A background in education and/or science background is desirable
- Bi-lingual and/or ability to speak and write in Spanish is desirable

This is a part-time non-exempt position with [min 25 hours a week] with regular weekends and evening hours.
This is a predominantly on-site position with flexibility for occasional remote work as approved by the Sr. Manager. This policy is subject to change at the discretion of the Museum.
$21-23 Hourly / Non-exempt
