Salary: The budgeted salary range for the position is $50,000 to $60,000. Position Summary
The Visiting Research Associate I will work on HIV/STI prevention and treatment protocols within the Center for Dissemination and Implementation Sciences, funded directly through NIH, via one of the NIH-funded HIV/AIDS research networks, or from industry sponsors.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Will work closely with the clinical and research site personnel (clinicians, research assistants, data managers, etc.) to provide quality research services
- Attend all scheduled conference calls
- Assists with protocol development and preparation of consent documents
- Work with the research team to prepare for study start up
- Communicate with the local UIC IRB as well as single IRB when designated, including submission of protocols, amendments, progress reports and informed consent forms as required
- Obtain project materials and supplies
- Create systems for project implementation and data collection, including source documentation
- Oversee flow of participant recruitment
- Manage enrollment and retention of participants
- Maintains system to provide patient compensation and schedule transportation for participants
- Work with pharmacist to assure study product is available
- Work with phlebotomist and lab to assure flow of all protocol labs are completed
- Collects research/clinical trial specific data and ensures accurate data entry and quality
- Completes case report forms after each study visit in a timely manner
- Maintains source documentation
- Prepares for conduct site-specific QA activities and prepares for site monitoring visits
- Provide back-up coverage for the other research specialists
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social science or related field required.
- Knowledge of fundamental research concepts, practices and procedures.
- Entry level knowledge of research methods.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of experience conducting human participant research
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- HIV pre/post-test counseling certified
- Excellent organizational skills with email, web messaging, calendar, creating and managing cloud documents
- Strong time management and multitasking abilities
- Experience using database applications, such as Excel, REDCap, Qualtrics, etc.
- Basic data validation and analysis skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Windows OS
- Experience with community-based programs or research among the LGBTQIA+ community
