Summary of Responsibilities
The Vice President of Instruction is the Chief Academic Officer of Lake Washington Institute of Technology. The Vice President is responsible for all of the college’s academic and technical programs, services, library, and faculty. This is a contracted exempt management position that
reports to the college President.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provide leadership and direction for the college’s academic and technical programs, services, and the library; ensure alignment of academic affairs and goals with the college’s mission and vision
• Organize and ensure high quality and efficient delivery of all credit programs, distance education, and eLearning at various locations and of different modalities; support new program development efforts
• Work collaboratively with the college’s accreditation liaison officer (ALO) and ensure retention of regional and program accreditation; provide leadership for efforts associated with assessment, outcomes, and strategic planning
• Develop, implement, and systematically review policies, programs, procedures, and standards for assigned functions; work with administrators and faculty to develop programs and courses to maintain high academic standards and meet emerging or changing needs of students, industries, and the community
• Work effectively with the college constituents including faculty, students, administrators, staff, Board of Trustees, industry representatives, donors, etc.
• Represent the college at state community and technical college commission meetings, community organizations, and promote the college at all levels; partner with other higher education institutions, businesses and industries concerning academic matters
• Oversee the development of the class schedule and college catalog
• Manage and monitor divisional budgets
• Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned administrators and provide oversight for faculty performance evaluations ; develop and monitor performance in conjunction with staff annual professional development plans; recommend selection of faculty to the college president
• Serve on various college committees and attend regularly scheduled board of trustees meetings, instructional council meetings, president’s cabinet meetings, and office staff meetings
• Demonstrates leadership in areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, and completion
• Assist the president and other college administrators as necessary; assume and effectively perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Prefer earned doctorate and five years of significant senior higher education experience
• Exceptional ability to provide strong leadership with ethics and integrity
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team supporting the college’s mission, vision, and shared governance processes
• Demonstrated leadership in areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, and completion
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving skills
• Experience in a collective bargaining environment preferred

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Compensation & Work Schedule

Salary is $14,525 per month. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position. Typically, office hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. This position offers flexible hours and hybrid schedule. This is subject to change based on the institution and division requirements. Evening and weekend hours may be required for outreach & recruitment events, which typically take place on/off campus within a 50 mile radius
