Full-Time Vice President
Job Description
We are looking for a Vice President with a strong background in media relations and management to join our team in Washington, DC. Specifically, we’re looking for someone who has significant experience working in issue advocacy, policy or politics, nonprofit, foundation and/or international development. Vice Presidents at Sunshine Sachs are smart communicators with extensive personal networks who excel at managing staff as well as client account teams. Vice Presidents have a strong track record of success in leading integrated communications teams encompassing media relations, social media, creative, brand integration and talent integration. Ideal candidates are confident and consistent managers who are invested in the growth of the company overall and take ownership and responsibility for the success of their team members.
Requirements
- At least 12 years of public relations experience with demonstrated success in the following areas: securing top-tier press placements that have an impact on a client’s bottom line, developing and executing strategic media plans, thinking outside the box to create media moments and managing junior staff
- At least 7 years of direct oversight of client account teams
- Strong connections in D.C., ranging from media to thought-leaders
- An enthusiasm for social impact trends and an understanding of timely national and international global issues
- Experience serving as a project manager on integrated communications teams (overseeing media relations, social media, creative, brand integration, talent integration)
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Confident, patient, organized, effective and consistent manager
- Positive, proactive and solutions-oriented
- Strong network of media and industry contacts

- Able to oversee large and complicated account teams across several departments (media relations, social media, creative, brand integration, talent integration),

- Knows how to “create news” for clients as a way to produce media moments
- Demonstrates excellent judgment and discretion in difficult client and staff situations
- Manages up to Sunshine Sachs partners and down to junior team members effectively and efficiently
- Has established relationships with media across a variety of verticals; leverages those relationships to secure impactful media opportunities
- Has established industry relationships; leverages those for both new business opportunities as well as client opportunities
- Able to appropriately identify and flag client concerns
- Strategic problem solver for teams and clients
- Creates an environment where every employee under their leadership feels they have a clear career path and are inspired, learning and growing
- Serves as day-to-day manager for junior employees
- Invested in their growth and success at the company; approves expenses conducts regular 1-on-1 meetings; manages annual review process; monitors PTO; etc.
