Full-Time Vice Chancellor – Academic & Student Affairs
Job Description
The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) is seeking an innovative leader with a focus on student success and a passion for community colleges to serve as the next Vice Chancellor (VC) for Academic & Student Affairs. In this role, you will provide strategic leadership related to all aspects of academic affairs, student affairs, career and technical education (which includes K-12 programs), workforce development, and online education. The VC provides leadership and coordination among college Presidents and Vice Presidents across the system and works closely with other System and college students, faculty, and staff to improve, expand, evaluate, and promote academic and student affairs resulting in excellence in teaching and learning, equity and inclusion, and student success. The VC is accountable for the academic integrity of CCCS instructional initiatives inclusive of areas such as program development and approval, curriculum, and educational, workforce and governmental partnerships.
The selected VC will serve as executive leader for system wide consortia efforts already underway, including Colorado Online, the Rural College Consortium, and the Colorado Skills Institute. These CCCS strategic initiatives, supported by the Board with supplemental temporary resources, require a collaborative leader to maintain the current momentum, encourage system wide support, and follow through on the implementation of the shared vision for these efforts.

Examples of Duties
- Provide leadership, direction, and advocacy to ensure quality, accessible, and relevant academic programs, student success, and workforce partnerships across the system. Provide System level approvals and evaluation of degrees and certificates for credit and non-credit programming.
- Promote quality teaching and learning strategies aimed at improving student success, creating welcoming and inclusive environments, and achieving equity in outcomes.
- Collaborate with college Presidents on key strategic initiatives related to academic and student affairs, equity and inclusion, workforce development, and online education.
- Serve, at the direction of the Chancellor, as the representative or liaison for the System with the staff of various state and federal agencies and other appropriate instructional, workforce and educational entities.
- Provide oversight of system grant operations and generate strategic grant opportunities including development of innovative revenue sources.
- Review, analyze, and recommend policy as well as proposed legislation. Testify on legislation as needed.
- Provide leadership and supervision of division team members which currently includes seven direct reports: Executive Assistant; Director of Strategic Initiatives; Associate Vice Chancellor for Career and Technical Education; Associate Vice Chancellor for Workforce Partnerships; Associate Vice Chancellor for Colorado Online; the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Equity and Inclusion; and a temporary position of Director of Online Strategic Plan Project.
- Assume overall responsibility for budget planning, execution, and evaluation. Lead annual goal setting and performance evaluations for the Academic and Student Affairs division.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree required; terminal degree strongly preferred.
- At least five years of senior level experience in academic or student affairs.
