Internship Utah Clean Energy Project Coordinator
Job Description
Utah Clean Energy is leading the clean energy transformation in Utah and the West, while advancing rapid action on climate change. As a nonprofit organization, we work to stop energy waste in homes and buildings, create clean energy, and build a smart energy future. We are seeking a Utah Conservation Corps member (either 1,200 or 1,700 service hours) to support our community energy equity and climate justice programs in 2023 as a Project Coordinator.
Primary Duties:
- Perform community mobilization, environmental education, and coordination of community events related to environmental stewardship, climate change, and environmental justice
- Develop a data tracking plan and collect and report AmeriCorps impact data timely and accurately to Utah Conservation Corps program staff
- Provide program support to Utah Clean Energy staff working on energy equity and climate issues
- Conduct community outreach and tabling events on energy efficiency, climate change, and air quality at various community events, workshops, and community meetings
- Coordinate meeting, workshop, and event logistics in collaboration with staff and project partners
- Track program outcomes, data, and contact information relating to community programs
- Provide updates and content editing on Utah Clean Energy’s program websites
- Support staff in developing a calendar for community events and tracking related communications/social media
- Assist Utah Clean Energy staff with program reporting activities for energy equity programs
- Work with key partner organizations to support their energy efficiency and equity activities
The Successful Candidate:
- Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills
- Bilingual Spanish skills preferred
- Pays attention to details, sees projects through to completion, and understands how to set priorities
- Is available to attend community events in the evenings and/or weekends, as needed
- Enjoys presenting to and engaging with community members from diverse backgrounds
- Is comfortable using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Has a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
- Physical ability to lift 25 lbs and carry materials for tabling events
- Works collaboratively with coworkers and community partners
- Be available to start service contract in December 2022 or January 2023
Compensation and Hours Required:
This position requires the fulfillment of either 1,700 or 1,200 hours of service over a 12-month period. While this is a volunteer service position, Utah Conservation Corps (AmeriCorps) members receive the following benefits:
1,700 Hour Candidates
- $30,150 annual living allowance
- Allowance is paid in even disbursements throughout the year-long term of service
- $6,345.00 AmeriCorps Education Award (available to members after successful service term)
- Child-care and insurance benefits
1,200 Hour Candidates
- $21,105 annual living allowance
- Allowance is paid in even disbursements throughout the year-long term of service
- $4,441.50 AmeriCorps Education Award (available to members after successful service term)
Training/Professional Development you will receive:

- Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Training (JEDI)
U.S. AmeriCorps Program Requirements:
- Be a United States citizen, S. national, or a lawful permanent resident alien of the United States;
- Be at least 18 years of age;
