We currently have an opening for a User Support Technician II.

The User Support Technician II within the Client Services unit provides technical direction and technical hardware and software support for the computerization efforts to the DOT such as IT purchases, computer/printer/application maintenance, computer and peripheral hardware replacement, data management, and PC training.

Duties include, but are not limited, to:

  • Analyzes and formulates new methods of applying microcomputer technology for the solution of operational problems of the business units in the Department of Transportation
  • Responsible for maintaining computer equipment inventory in a warehouse environment
  • Responsible for set up and delivery of this equipment to DOT and DMV offices throughout the State
  • Support may also include finding workarounds to problems to reduce time
  • Operate forklift and pallet jack

 

Note: This position will report daily to the IT Distribution Center @ 1529 S. Blount Street, Raleigh, NC 27603.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

  • Experience with different types of computer hardware, mobile devices, software, peripherals and components, networking protocols and/or communications
  • Experience with call tracking systems such as ServiceNow
  • Experience documenting processes and procedures related to technical support activities
  • Experience installing and/or imaging new computers and loading appropriate software for customers
  • Experience working in a warehouse environment utilizing equipment such as a forklift or pallet jack

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in the information technology field related to the position’s role

OR

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of experience in the field of technology related to the position’s role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
