Salary: $80,000-$100,000 annually

Location: Hybrid (Mostly remote with occasional in person meetings) Ideal candidate would be based in D.C. or somewhere on the East coast and willing to travel to DC when needed.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Policy Analyst for UBN is a critical policy position within the organization that is tasked with leading our public policy work in multiple areas, including coalition spaces, legislative and administrative advocacy, and providing some direct services if the candidate is an attorney.. The Senior Policy Analyst will also further the priorities of UBN’s public policy team on a number of other policy efforts, including advocating for protections such as Temporary Protected Status designations, passage of legislation that would provide our people green cards, calling for an end to harmful policies that perpetuate the practice of detaining and deporting Black migrants, and rapid response initiatives. The Senior Policy Analyst will conduct policy and program research, analyze policy, regulations, and administrative data sets, work directly with partners to support policy implementation, and contribute to the design and preparation of technical assistance such as the creation of mini immigration clinics, and related know your rights materials, one pagers and other education materials. This position is ideal for someone interested in addressing racial disparities in immigration policy and public systems at large. We are looking for a highly motivated and collaborative individual. Commitment to antiracist, intersectional policy work focused on better serving Black people who identify as LGBTQ+, and immigrant families is a must. The position requires a high degree of integrity, time management skill, autonomy, attention to detail, and self motivation. Experience working in a fast-paced non-profit environment is a plus. This role reports to the UBN Policy and Advocacy Director . This role is a remote based and works to support a fully remote organization.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

The Senior Policy Analyst will be responsible for:

• Leading in the development of a range of high-quality written materials, including one-pagers and other summaries of new or updated immigration policies, Know Your Rights Materials, policy reports and policy memos

• Facilitating both in-person and webinar, briefing discussions on related policy topics for UBN members and Congressional staffers

• Drafting organizational comments and statement for the record responding to federal policy actions

• Conducting state and federal policy research

• Working directly with federal government agencies and community-based organizations to implement federal policy and/or initiatives to advance the needs of the UBN community

• Collaborating with national partners on strategies to advance UBN’s policy priorities

• Tracking policy proposals and implementation in assigned content areas

• Helping to prepare and complete deliverables and reports to funders

• Representing UBN’s externally by attending/participating policy briefings, meetings with Hill staffers and speaking to journalists on relevant policy areas

• Carrying out additional duties as needed

REQUIREMENTS

  • Commitment to equity and reducing disparities based on race, ethnicity, immigration status,, gender, sexual orientation/gender identity, and socioeconomics .
  • Masters degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Migration Studies or International Affairs is preferred
  • 3-5+ years of experience in Federal and Admirative Immigration Advocacy preferred
  • Direct representation in immigration cases experience highly desirable
  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, monitor responsibilities, and achieve goals.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and as a member of a highly- collaborative team.
  • Ability to present policy, practice and research information to a variety of audiences, including federal, state and local government officials and policymakers. Flexibility and an ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Curiosity and commitment to learning.
  • Ability and willingness to travel (when safe to do so).
  • Knowledge of computers and technology: proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and audio/visual and conference calling technology; experience with data analysis tools a plus.
  • Personal alignment with UBN’s mission and points of unity.
  • Prior experience working with the UBN Network is a plus.
  • Experience working within the UndocuBlack Network highly preferred; and/or experience working with Black immigrant communities.
  • Lived experience that reflects that of our members in the Black undocumented and formerly undocumented community is a plus
