Summary
HMRC are introducing an undergraduate intern placement scheme starting in 2020. This placement will give you a true flavour of working in HMRC, and what will be in store for you should you join the organisation. You will learn “hands-on” skills that University can’t really teach. It is a fantastic learning opportunity for you.
You’ll work in a real working environment and have a role and responsibilities from day one. You’ll gain vital skills, behaviours and knowledge and have support throughout your placement from your manager and colleagues.
To be eligible for these placements you must:
• be studying towards an undergraduate degree and eligible for a ‘sandwich’ intern year or taking a gap year;
• be available to work in Nottingham or Liverpool throughout the whole period of the placement;
• be fluent in English;
Responsibilities
You will have the opportunity to support the implementation of new policies and legislation, engaging proactively with a range of Government and external stakeholders, including businesses, tax advisers and industry representative bodies.
What we are looking for?
We are looking for people with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) and be confident in providing technical or expert advice to more senior grades and supporting policy development work. You will have experience in researching, organising and analysing facts and data, utilising judgement and interpretative ability where issues are complex or conflicting. You will need a flexible approach to dealing with a challenging workload and the ability to work well under pressure.
