Summary
HMRC are introducing an undergraduate intern placement scheme starting in 2020. This placement will give you a true flavour of working in HMRC, and what will be in store for you should you join the organisation. You will learn “hands-on” skills that University can’t really teach. It is a fantastic learning opportunity for you.
You’ll work in a real working environment and have a role and responsibilities from day one. You’ll gain vital skills, behaviours and knowledge and have support throughout your placement from your manager and colleagues.
To be eligible for these placements you must:
• be studying towards an undergraduate degree and eligible for a ‘sandwich’ intern year or taking a gap year;
• be available to work in Nottingham or Liverpool throughout the whole period of the placement;
• be fluent in English;
Job description
As part of the Debt Management Team you will be responsible for collecting debts from our customers who can be either individuals or businesses. You will be required to review cases and make decisions about how to deal with them by checking IT systems and guidance as these cases can be complex.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for contacting the customer by phone, e-mail or in writing to collect full payment, agree payment by instalments or refer to other offices to take action to recover the debt
What we are looking for?
The role requires good interpersonal and communication skills to identify issues, research information from a range of sources and use guidance and IT systems to work out a solution.
You will handle data and information and keep customer records up to date and work well with others both inside and outside of HMRC.
