Full-Time Transportation Worker IV – Roadside Environmental
Job Description
- Perform a wide range of tasks associated with roadside environmental operations.
- Conduct operations contract inspections, such as shoulder mowing, long-arm mowing, string trimming, litter removal, pesticide and herbicide applications, rest area operations, and other areas.
- Communicate with citizens regarding concerns related to the above contract activities.
- Perform roadside environmental operations tasks, including seeding, mulching, herbicide applications, and landscape maintenance.
- Perform manual labor, such as planting trees, shrubs, and flowers, mulching, pruning, operating hand and power tools, and installing traffic and erosion control devices.
- Landscaping experience in grass mowing, guardrail trimming, tree removal, and plant bed maintenance.
- Experience performing contract inspections that would meet NCDOT standards.
- Experience interacting with contractors and public.
- Computer experience using Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).
- Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
- Ability to safely operate equipment/trucks requiring a commercial drivers license with both manual and automatic transmissions.
- A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement. (Don’t have it yet? STILL APPLY! You can get it through on on-the-job training program within 360 days of hire).
- Safety toe shoes.
- A pre-employment drug testing is required, and we will do a background check of your employers for the past 3 years for controlled substances/alcohol testing.
- High school/GED diploma, and
- 6+ years of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
