Full-Time Transportation Worker III – NEW HIGHER PAY!
Job Description
- Perform maintenance tasks in the preventive maintenance, repair, and construction of state-maintained roads and roadside features.
- Serve as a lead worker of a highway maintenance crew.
- Install traffic & erosion control devices, clear of right of ways, perform roadway grading, machine unpaved roads, conduct pavement repairs, pipe installation or other drainage tasks.
- Inspect contract work and monitor manual tasks performed.
- Perform emergency response including traffic accident clean-ups, snow and ice removal, and other emergencies as they occur.
- Operate equipment including bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, skid steers, tandem dump trucks, front end loaders, tractor trailers, motor graders, rollers, and other heavy equipment.
- Ability to act upon both verbal and written communications.
- Traffic control and lane closures on multi-lane roads experience.
- Experience in shoulder and ditch maintenance, pipe installation, or asphalt patching.
- Snow and ice removal operations experience.
- Experience in the maintenance and installation of erosion control devices.
- Experience in the operation of 2+ pieces of the following equipment: backhoe, tandem dump truck, motor grader, front end loader, forklift, force feed loader, asphalt distributor, crack sealing machine, track excavator, skid steer, or sweeper.
- Ability to operate a Class A motor vehicle and/or perform flagging operation to safely guide traffic through work zones.
- Open to receive and give effective written and oral communications.
- Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time and operate equipment that vibrates.
- Ability to perform essential functions in extreme hot and/or cold weather.
- Agility to climb, bend, and traverse steep/uneven terrain.
- Strength to repetitively lift 50 pounds.
- A Commercial Driver License. (Note: If you don’t have one, you can get it through our on-the-job training within 360 days of hire). Preference will be given to applicants with a commercial driver’s license/permit.
- This role is subject to emergency call back and scheduled night work during adverse weather or other extreme circumstances.
- We may require work during non-traditional work hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Safety-toe shoes are required.
- We will conduct a pre-employment drug test and check with your employers over the past 2 years for alcohol/drug abuse.
- High school/GED diploma, and
- 5+ years of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
